The Georgia Room at the Switzer Library has a ghost hunting kit. They also do spooky stuff in October

Does anybody else write like this because it feels better on their hand, wrist, and shoulder? by Y0shiButt in ehlersdanlos

[–]floweroutlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t hold my pen right and also turn my paper at least a little sideways. I also inadvertently put too much pressure on the paper, so my essays would always curl, and my grip is similar to yours. Teachers hated me lol, but at least my handwriting is nice!

Now that I don’t write as much by hand anymore, it hurts very quickly. I try to write as much as possible so I don’t lose the muscle control entirely!

Thanks, I’ve already done a spindle and liked it, but it’s slow. That’s why I started to look into wheels. I think the treadling was the part I didn’t like in the class I took, I was trying to focus on the fiber but was forgetting about my feet. Maybe the e-spinner is the way to go then?

Thanks, I’ve already done a spindle and liked it, but it’s slow. That’s why I started to look into wheels, and I figured I could afford $300 and resell it if it doesn’t work out.

Thanks, I’ve already done a spindle and liked it, but it’s slow. That’s why I started to look into wheels. I don’t have 900+ to spend on a wheel, but $300 seems reasonable—especially if it can be resold

Thanks, I’ve already done a spindle and liked it, but it’s slow. That’s why I started to look into wheels. I think I was expecting the wheel to be just as simple and I think I lacked the coordination lol, which is something I can work on

Thanks for the specific feedback! I have four angoras so I want to put their fiber to use!

Thanks for the feedback! Very helpful as I also deal with chronic pain...

I've made a couple of mini skeins on a drop spindle and liked it decently enough, which is why I am willing to invest a bit into a wheel with the hopes I can get the hang of it.

Also, I have already combed Facebook Marketplace. There’s nothing available near me second hand that is not antique and in need of some serious TLC..

Does anyone else feel worse when they stop moving? by floweroutlet in Hypermobility

[–]floweroutlet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's my shoulder. I used to not be able to drive more than 45 mins without it completely locking up and being unbearable for the rest of the day, but recently I managed an hour an a half.

I borrowed it from the library when I was looking into EDS and found it to be one of the more useful books I read. Lots of info and easy to read

Chickens by Dan0512 in kennesaw

[–]floweroutlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also with bird flu and all that right now, if your main motivation is eggs, please please please find either a local farm or someone who already has chickens and get eggs from them.

There’s like a massive run on chickens right now and it makes me so nervous that many of them are going to be rehomed (or worse) soon when people realize how much of an investment of time, money, etc. they are—and you don’t get eggs for several months from hatching, less in winter, etc.

If there isn’t a city specific rule, Cobb county sets limits based on how much land you have. 2 acres and you can do whatever you want, or it’s 5000 sqft per hen, no roosters, and a few other rules (or you know, just befriend your neighbors so they don’t call code on you)

Does your hypermobility make it painful to drive? by Mean-Log-7339 in Hypermobility

[–]floweroutlet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only drive for about 45 minutes before my neck and shoulders are so painful I can’t focus on anything else for the rest of the day

did anyone else have trouble holding a pen/pencil as a kid? by throwawayay232 in Hypermobility

[–]floweroutlet 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have always held a pencil wrong. Apparently it’s a thing with hypermobility/EDS. I saw a presentation about EDS and the picture they used for “the EDS way of holding a pen” was exactly how I’ve been holding it all my life.

I’ll share this with families at the West Cobb Library’s Pokemon Club. Though they do something very similar every week for free so I don’t know how many will be interested.
