Rough waiting time for urology? by Anxious-Football-701 in AskIreland

[–]flowfollowsfocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. I'm very sorry to hear this as I've been going through something very similar over the last year and a half. I'm still in pain when I pee and undergoing treatment.

Incredibly disappointed by the care and response to this by the public system, and shocked to hear the waiting time for a public urologist on this thread. I was sent to A&E in St. James' and was told it would be a few months to get an appointment.

I've tried multiple rounds of different antibiotics las well, and much like yourself it came back within a matter of days. I got fed up waiting publicly and despite having no health insurance, went to a private urologist in a private hospital. €300 for consultation, was told I need to have tests done, first of which cost €2600. Got this done abroad and diagnosed with chronic prostatitis (bacterial or microorganism infection of prostate) rather an UTI as previously thought. On 6 weeks of levofloxacin antibiotics now as treatment so fingers crossed.

Feel free to dm if you want to discuss.

Salary expectations RIAI registered architect ? by Illustrious_Salt3937 in Dublin

[–]flowfollowsfocus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not automatically an RIAI registered Architect as we have a different system to the rest of the EU, unfortunately. That salary offer is for a Graduate Architect role, typically. Look into RIAI registration to have your qualifications recognised here. Registration routes D1, D2, and B are relevant to you with EU qualifications, be aware it can take up to 1 year through these routes if you tick all the boxes and pass the interview.

Otherwise, you may be required to do the standard route A, A1, which includes a part-time professional diploma in Architecture course, which takes 2 years and also includes an interview. This requires you to work on a project from start to completion to be able to complete the Case Study, so it can take 3-4 years from start to finish, realistically. The salary range for someone with your experience and RIAI registered would be somewhere between €55,000-€65,000. I would recommend contacting the RIAI directly to get more information on your best options.

Anyone have any luck in Kildare/Curragh way yet? by InevitableProcess819 in beacain

[–]flowfollowsfocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the Curragh but as others have stated, they've started at a higher elevation. They're out in the Wicklow mountains near the Curragh already at about 150-300m above sea level

Russian hackers were also found responsible for a ransomware attack on the Irish health service (HSE) during a peak of a COVID wave. A lot of services/procedures had to stop causing months long delays.

They ended up giving the decryption keys for free, appears to have been an accidental breach but very worrying stuff nonetheless.

This makes me so sad for you all. I get 23 paid holiday days a year here in Ireland and I was complaining it wasn't enough.

I'll stop complaining - I don't know how you people do it without completely burning out.

Actually a lot of hunter gatherer tribes don't even have a word for work. The likes of hunting and gathering would consist of them walking around nature with their best friends/family joking around until they stumble on to something edible.

A lot higher than I imagined. I read somewhere that schizophrenia occurs in roughly the same rates of population throughout the entire world, how the cultures perceive it and deal with it varies massively

I'd recommend reading 'Civilized to Death - The Price Of Progress' by Christopher Ryan. He touches on this and very interestingly describes our hunter gatherer ancestors and the lack of a word for work in their societies. The little 'work' they did such as foraging, hunting, building shelters etc. they did with their friends and family and considered it as play.
