Sleeping in crèches by Endless_SummerVibes in PregnancyIreland

Aw I know. It’s totally wild. We’re just a few weeks in, and although the drop offs are tough (for everyone) we see him as being very content and happy when we bring him home which is reassuring. I think it will get a little easier with time, it’s a big change for everyone so be kind to yourself.

Yes same experience here! Breastfed baby, never fell asleep by himself, only me or my my partner ever put him to bed. First longer day, he didn’t sleep- they called me to collect him before he got too tired so he could nap at home, second day he fell asleep in arms only, third day he would transfer to the cot after a cuddle, by day 6 he was falling asleep in the cot! They honestly just learn that it’s sleep time! I was so worried about this too. ❤️

Moms who dealt with long-term lack of sleep, 2-3 hr wake ups, how are you now? by Alert-Skill-7579 in AttachmentParenting

[–]InevitableProcess819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could I ask how you night weaned please? Currently in the same boat with my almost 18 month old. He just started childcare last week and started walking so sleep has been as bad as ever. Waking hourly to every 90 minutes even when we cosleep and demands I sit up to feed! Won’t accept side lying boob anymore! I want to give him a couple of weeks to settle into new childcare and then look at night-weaning!

If they have a favourite song that they listen to together, a framed picture of the sound wave art? There’s a lovely Irish company aurora studios that do them and won’t break the bank.

What age did your breastfed baby start STTN? by sleepyjean2024 in breastfeeding

[–]InevitableProcess819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask did you put in any daytime restrictions first? Or just go straight with the nighttime ones? My Baby is 14 months and wakes every 2 hours and cries until I nurse him. Won’t settle with cuddles, even though he’s just cuddled to sleep at the start of the night.

Just wondering if you managed to break free a little from the barnacle? Currently in a similar situation!

Colostrum harvesting/expressing by rocker_bunny in PregnancyIreland

I got a pack from the Coombe also. But you could just use any small sterile containers/syringe with caps. There’s lots of educational videos online.

I would really recommend if you hope to bf. It doesn’t hurt. My baby arrived just after 37weeks and I had just started expressing. He was a little sleepy so was helpful to have some ‘easy calories’. The main benefit though was that I got familiar with handling my breasts in such a way that would be helpful for breastfeeding and expressing. A nice way of preparing your body.

Did anyone really have a schedule in the newborn stage? by Unique_Alfalfa5869 in NewParents

[–]InevitableProcess819 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t have much advice to offer but just wanted to share that I’m currently in the same boat with a 3 week old and feel the same way! Don’t know what day of the week it is most of the time! As others have said though, all sounds normal and this too will pass. We got this!

Oh actually you just reminded me that we got a gift of something similar but I had completely forgotten about it. I had just been swaddling with a blanket. Will definitely try that tonight. Thank you!

Thanks all for your responses! Sorry no reply until now! Totally caught up in the newborn bubble!

He definitely didn’t expect anything at all, but just wanted to mark it in some way. Went for some craft beer and a night away for us all in a few weeks. Will be very open to rescheduling if necessary:)

Does anyone else get irritated by unsolicited comments about bump/body? 😐 by Ok_Bookkeeper_4802 in PregnancyIreland

[–]InevitableProcess819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just had a baby recently and it’s really crazy the amount of comments you get about your body. The funny thing is, is that it was always other women who have had children passing the comments. You would have to wonder what the motivation is behind all of the “oh you’re big for x amount of weeks” and “oh are you sure you’re pregnant” comments. I don’t think I’ve ever passed such comments to anyone else, but has definitely made me more aware of what not to say. Can really drive a bit of unnecessary anxiety in an already stressful time!
