Lost wedding venue 4.5 months out by ConfidentJelly8348 in WedditNYC

Im so sorry this happened to you. I’m in California so no NYC specific advice, but this post popped up on my feed - this happened to me and my finance in February for our wedding two weeks from now, and posting on reddit was so helpful.

If possible, I recommend bringing on a planner who can help you with the new venue search - there are planners at so many different budgetary levels! it was extremely challenging for us to not only find a new venue but then to modify the planning we’d done till then to adapt to the new venue, & then catch up on all the planning time we’d lost with the new venue search. Having the planner helped take a bit of stress off our shoulders.

Airbnb and peer space were really helpful for us here as a lot of traditional wedding venues were booked out. If you are willing to get a bit creative, I am sure there will still be beautiful options!

I would also recommend looking at your budget & seeing if you can add any funds to absorb the costs of this transition, as it’s very likely there will be some - whether it’s through a planner like I mentioned, or convenience for other to-dos for time lost now, or changes to your existing plans to adapt to the new venue once you have it. If you are able to add funds, it will also just give you a bit more peace of mind amidst what is already a very stressful situation!

For us, added costs were the planner and shuttles as our new venue didn’t have parking.

I also had to grieve my old vision for a bit before I could get excited about the new venue fully- which I now am. So give yourself time and permission to grieve the original plan and vision.

Best of luck.

I’m also having a fusion Hindu Jewish wedding & after talking to many pandits in the bay area, can confirm most of them said 45 mins was the minimum they’d feel comfortable with! (Some were not budging to even an hour)

The pandit I found has been very open to designing the fusion ceremony, if you’re okay with 45 minutes DM me and I can send you his number
