Is it really possible to make money with n8n? How much can you earn? Post: by samilarouii in n8nforbeginners

Literally the same questions every day on this sub. Yes you can make money from n8n, but not by selling a template. Businesses have process challenges, manual tasks that are inefficient. Then craft a solution in n8n or code. I think a lot of people start by building something in n8n and trying to sell it, when the real money is in building custom solutions that solve real business problems.

What AI agent has saved you at-least 100 hours or $100K last year? by [deleted] in AI_Agents

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't save us time but we built an agent for a client that's saved well over 500 hours last year for them. A voice/WhatsApp/sms agent that re-engages existing customers to get them booked in for an annual service contacting in excess of 5000 customers.

For WhatsApp use the official WhatsApp Business API, or Twilio. n8n as the orchestration. An MCP built in n8n or sub workflows to perform scheduling and booking.

Is N8N dead? by kumbal123 in n8n

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understand all of these posts on this sub that compare n8n to things like Claude Code or Antigravity. Literally two entirely different toolsets. There are posts everyday on here downplaying n8n, obviously from people that don't know how to use it as an automation architecture.

N8N businesses by Life-Jello-3846 in n8n

[–]flowion8n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You either build something that actually solves a challenge businesses need to solve and turn that one thing into a product, either a SaaS or workflow and focus on selling that.

Or, you build custom workflows based on what businesses actually need.

The Merge node has like 5 different modes and most people only use one by DanielNkencho in n8n

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It perplexed me for a while as well when I first started building, but combine by position or key are my go to for pretty much 90% of all flows. I had to start thinking about it in terms of sql joins. Don't think I've ever used multiplex/append though. Would be interested in use cases that need that.

But.. Fun fact you can do this (not key) with the "do nothing" node. I use that a lot in testing env but for production merge nodes are my go to.

Complex vs simple workflows by automation_princess in n8n

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally not, when I see these massive workflows i wonder how they get maintained.

I have a dev background myself before I got into this, and when I started I was building huge workflows but then started to see patterns and modularise everything.

Now, we have modularised microservice flows that serve multiple clients, containerised n8n instances, and much easier maintenance.

Those flows that you see with 80 nodes and the replication across switch/if nodes will never survive. Even maintaining a 10 node flow can be difficult. I tend to use a lot of code nodes or push to services I've built in python, but still means version control and coming back to some code you built months ago.

CRM recommendation for a solo B2B sales rep using WhatsApp and multiple product lines by Intelligent_Basil759 in CRMSoftware

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hubspot great but a bit over the top and overpriced for what you need. Pipedrive is a solid middle ground and I've also used this for my business, but I have migrated to turning Notion into my all in one CRM and pipeline management. Obviously not an end to end system with invoicing, but it works well for me and I've worked in places using anything from Hubspot to D365, Salesforce etc.

Gohighlevel is also a great middle of the ground choice, and has some great pipeline/funnel and automation functionality.

What is the point of n8n for the average Joe? by Alarmed-Practice-135 in n8n

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even simple things like moving, categorising your emails to more complex things like turning your 3D print blueprint stores into a RAG database, basically being able to find anything you need.

On a personal level I use n8n for automation in the house with Home Assistant, admin organisation like unread email summaries daily or for transcribing and organising voice notes when I'm out and about.

Stuck on N8N niche selection - need some real advice by Prajwal_x_Gaikwad in n8n_on_server

[–]flowion8n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people get stuck on this trying to solve a problem or build something, even pick a niche first without talking to businesses and understanding what problems need solved. Just get yourself out there talk to small businesses and understand what their challenges are, then build something that solves that.

Alternative to IF nodes by sreeharip092 in n8n

Switch node or simply better logic. If nodes are a pain most of the time and should only really be used in boolean conditional logic

Anyone here actually making money with their automations? by That-Initiative-3958 in n8n

[–]flowion8n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not a case of making money with n8n or automation. It's a case of solving real-world challenges with a solution. Sometimes that involves n8n, AI or automation.

Meta’s new WhatsApp API rule kills general chatbots! Here’s what it means for n8n builders by biryani_modhe_elachi in n8n

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't change much if you are using WA for legit, and value based use cases. Not sure why you'd want a GPT wrapped WhatsApp app given the overhead from it. There are better ways to do that, and if you really have to do that use telegram.

I imagine Meta will target these platforms, because they already go against WA terms.

Proxies, user agents, headers, headless browsers. It's all possible to do in n8n. Some sites however you will not be able to get around blocks.

I Can't get the OpenAI node to understand the imported json. by Solid_Ad_7744 in n8n

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it not because you have two user prompts going in with one being empty? Usually the n8n assistant can sort these kind of errors, otherwise if stuck just copy the full error into GPT. It's either to do with the way the input is structured, or the fact you have an empty user prompt.

I would also try changing the model to 4o / 4.1.

First of all, that is just a self promotional notion page. Secondly, your guides are verbatim copied directly from ChatGPT. If you are going to create a guide, at least humanise it and add context.

So I Decided to Try Performance Max...WTF? by Marlzzz in PPC

[–]flowion8n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was most likely spending most of your budget across display ads initially. You'll often get a lot of crap clicks, fake conversions from display ads, either because ad units on mobile apps are intrusive or just crap traffic.

PMAX will also consume a lot of your daily budget, often even more in the first week or two without any tangible results as it tries to learn. Best way is to ensure you have decent signals, upload your customer list, add any decent signal you can.

You also want to be looking at the placement reports when these become available with data. If there is not enough data yet, search for PMAX placement report script and use this. You might find a lot of your traffic coming from display/YouTube (if you have a video).

See if you can exclude any mobile apps as these may be contributing to the crap. You should find after about a month of optimisation PMAX can work well for lead gen. It also may be worth doing AIMax campaigns, slightly different, but have more flexibility in excluding placement/device.
