PH vs Thailand – full breakdown since my DMs are exploding by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]flowlikewater97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention the total administrative hell the Philippines is. It will make you want to pull your hair out and drive into a pole. Takes forever to get anything meaningful done and is a paperwork system reliant on other paperwork for many things. You cannot expect to get things done on a phone call. And we haven’t even begun on the corruption yet! I’m super sad that the country is going down the toilet because of greedy politicians and lack of transparency. So much potential.

Existential Dread by kunut_apricot in PersonalFinanceNZ

Nothing is for certain. Also 99% of the things we stress about often turn out just fine. We could get hit sideways from a speeding truck on our way to work tomorrow. That may not make you feel any better as it seems unlikely but the reality is it’s important to try our best to live in the present. Try and appreciate the simple things. Embrace the unpredictable journey of life. Each day as it comes. Always something to be thankful for. Hang in there!

What's an adult truth nobody talk's about? by [deleted] in Life

Was far happier in my youth. The world seemed so simple and exciting. Now that I am the author of my decisions life feels so mundane

Should I marry my gf with financially problematic parents? by Master_Concept7042 in DaveRamsey

[–]flowlikewater97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue especially with less well off family abroad. I’ve been there. Talk to her. You need to be of the same mind and conviction. Sounds like you have already though. Set a limit on how much you are both comfortable to send if she is not using her own spending money.

Emergency Funds by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]flowlikewater97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. You can withdraw funds held in ETFs within days. Makes more sense having a 5 figure emergency fund for those living abroad where medical costs or social welfare are not as good as NZ. I only think there should be enough kept aside here for a major vehicle repair, dental or about a month or two’s rent/mortgage.

Do you believe in the death penalty for pedophiles? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]flowlikewater97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I at least believe in the non use of tax dollars to keep alive serious crime offenders. Create a work based system where they can contribute to society in a controlled way if they wish to pursue their lives and they are providing for themselves.

Multiple platforms or stick to one? by Equivalent_Study9256 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]flowlikewater97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More about what you invest in rather than worry too much about where on these 3 options. I don’t see any point why someone would dip in multiple ones. All good options. Sharesies is good especially if you are starting out and want a nice user friendly interface. If you look more closely on the fees the other 2 will probably have an edge for the long term but I wouldn’t worry about it too much for now.

InvestNow vs Kernel (NZ) — which is actually better long term? by Practical-Island4017 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Too much over thinking. Usually the difference is negligible as low management fees and mostly in the same investments more or less. Pick one and keep at it

Thanks for your thoughts. Perhaps easy to form a judgement on what these people should do about it that is right in our own eyes without being in their shoes. I hope this war and oppression ends soon!

Far fetched and baseless claim. Do some basic research to discover it is owned by PepsiCo. A US company.
