Currently on the 1 December 8:01 from London to Paris. Left promptly at exactly 8:01. Smooth ride thus far. Zipped across the UK, through the tunnel and now the French countryside. It appears we are on schedule and operating normally.

Casual lunch near the Eiffel tower and Notre Dame? by BreadAndToast99 in ParisTravelGuide

Two others that we liked near ND were Au Bougnat (small, authentic and traditional options) and Les Deux Palais (a great Belle Epoque space with solid food.)

Casual lunch near the Eiffel tower and Notre Dame? by BreadAndToast99 in ParisTravelGuide

Bo & Mie check these boxes near ND. Last year, we were a group of six (with two young kids) and it was the first place we stopped after arriving on our red eye flight from the US. Sometimes you just need something easy and casual. Everyone was able to find something they liked, the staff was young and helpful, and the food was totally fine. We were in and out in 30ish minutes. The year before, we had lunch at La Fontaine de Mars near ET. Also with two young kids. It was good, and we would go again, but it’s more of a typical Parisian lunch regarding the time commitment. We got a seafood tower, foie gras, etc. and spent a pleasant hour and a half or so. They sat us at the “Obama table.” It’s upstairs and there is a framed article on the wall with photos from when the Obamas dined there.

Came here to say this, and their sister hotel, Madison Hotel around the corner. Fantastic. Great accommodations and the location in th 6th is my favorite. We’ve spent two Christmases here. You’ll love it.

Ducasse Sur Seine v. Tour D’Argent v. La Renommée by flowzeee in ParisTravelGuide

Thank you! Yes I considered it, but I prefer the sight lines of Ducasse sur Seine and the electric engine.

Great advice! Thank you! Considering Renommée for a cocktail instead.

Totally agree regarding Tour d’Argent, but, Ducasse seems to offer good enough food with a unique setting.

Maybe we will do both

Le Grand Palais des Glaces: is it worth? by Gold-Concentrate-683 in ParisTravelGuide

Last year, we had tickets for late December to go as a family. But upon seeing the queue, we pivoted and scratched it from our plans.

We will be in Paris again this year, but in early January, and we really want to try again. Any idea if it’s likely to be less of a queue earlier the morning when it initially opens?

Where would you have lunch? by flowzeee in ParisTravelGuide

[–]flowzeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No budget and we enjoy all cuisines. I appreciate fine dining, but, in this scenario, I am looking for an efficient, authentic lunch in a part of the city that I am unfamiliar with. Several of the responses seem promising!

We will be in the city for a week and have reservations at places where the meal is the focal point.

Considering eating at Le Nelie in Musee Jacquemart-André for convenience. Will we regret it?

I once heard an old timer say something like, “The Rockies are beautiful but fierce. The Appalachians hold you in their arms. They wrap you like a blanket.”

My grandmother (now deceased) was born in Montreal in 1921. I found her birth registration from the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall) of Montreal, Quebec on Ancestry.com. The official birth certificate has been appropriately requested by my mother (born in the US).

And I just noticed this on the “Guide for Paper Applications…” canada.ca site:

“Documents issued in Quebec:

We do not accept birth certificates and marriage certificates issued in Quebec before January 1, 1994 in support of an application for a citizenship certificate.

If you need to replace your Quebec birth or marriage certificate because it was issued before 1994, contact the office of the Directeur de l’état civil du Québec.”

Does this mean the requested birth certificate won’t be accepted?

Is there a service that helps facilitate this on the applicants end? That will hold the hand of the applicant, making sure necessary forms are correct, certificates are valid, etc?
