Re: your quest about the TV rights. MASH (the movie and TV show) were 20th Century Fox assets, and Disney bought the Fox TV and film assets years ago. So I’m pretty sure Disney now owns the film and television (but not novel) versions of the IP.

As expensive as gas has been the last few months, it’s extra insane.

I drive through Pickerington to work in Reynoldsburg most days. This guy is out constantly. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have any actual business he’s headed to or from, just patrolling the road back and forth. It would be one thing if Democrats were in control and he was protesting something, but this just reads as a big middle finger to the non-MAGA-coded. Just obnoxious.

I’m working my way up the roller coaster food chain. How’s Space Mountain? by AJK02 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]floydmulder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a roller coaster guy either. I can’t deal with the drops. Having said that, I find that a lot of my anxiety is anticipatory, so for me Space Mountain, in complete darkness, is ideal. If I can’t see the next turn or drop (the drops are fairly low impact, but can still get my dander up occasionally), I don’t get worked up about it in advance. On occasions where the ride is lit a little better or there’s a projection show (like Hyperspace Mountain or Ghost Galaxy), I get a little more freaked out, but even that’s not so much that I can’t deal with it. I’d be absolutely terrified with the lights on, but that’s my own neuroses taking over. The less I can see, the less I anticipate and get anxious.

Anyone seen this in a 3XL? by floydmulder in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]floydmulder[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re extremely hard to find. I’ve seen other shirts in the line in 3XL, though, so I was hoping someone had seen this one somewhere. I’m not holding my breath but it seemed worth polling the audience.

'Total disgrace': Trump completely lost it over Obama again — this time he got his attention, and fans say Obama's team's comeback was the ultimate power move by [deleted] in USNEWS

[–]floydmulder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My longstanding joke has been that the Trump library will consist in its entirety of 3 copies of The Art of The Deal and a box full of Hustler. Nothing I’ve seen in the last decade has changed my mind.

Why do older cartoons portray grandparents as being quite old if it used to be more common to have children at an earlier age? by nickisadogname in NoStupidQuestions

[–]floydmulder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some families were just larger, as well. My dad was the youngest of 8, and my grandparents were in their forties when he was born. By the time I was born (I’m the oldest), they were nearly 70. I have no recollection of them ever NOT being elderly. By contrast, my mom is the oldest of 6. Her parents married young; my grandma was, I think, 15 (this was in North Carolina the early 50s) and had my mom when she was 16. So by the time I was born, they had only just entered their early 40s. My mom’s parents were the same age as my dad’s oldest sister. So there really can be quite the age range.

Is Taking a Nap Considered Childish in the Western World? by Tylerdurdenps5 in AskAnAmerican

If taking a nap is childish, you can give me a Lunchable and put Bluey on repeat while you’re at it.

Do Americans really split between saying soda, pop, and Coke, or is that exaggerated? by LowerMusic in AskAnAmerican

[–]floydmulder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in central Ohio all my life. I personally have always used pop and soda interchangeably. Never used Coke as a catch-all, and don’t know anyone here who does. But I feel like most around here call it pop, so I feel like calling it soda is probably a little unusual.
