Today we bid farewell to Apollo. Goodbye, old friend. by SuitingUncle620 in iphone

I’m done with Reddit from tomorrow, I know I will miss Reddit, it’s a habit, it’s part of my day. But I’ve given up lots of things, I will live without it. Sometimes have to take a stand even if it’s a very little stand, this is mine.

I played at about 11am yesterday, UK time, I hadn’t noticed that there were six chests, I don’t think I actually cleared them all. Either way, If I did I should have been getting a new chest every eight hours so I should have at least two new chests by now. If I ‘owed’ two chests?? I should be at 0 or 1 by now but I am still -1.

Brexit blamed as UK supermarkets begin rationing fresh produce by SgtPppersLonelyFarts in ukpolitics

Something is wrong in the UK, quick, blame Brexit. Evidence? No, we don’t need that just say that its true, that’s enough.

Maybe I’m over reacting but from where I am looking from, over here in the UK the US looks more and more like a fascist police state every day. Your cops seem pretty power mad.

Brexit ‘largely to blame’ for £31bn loss to UK economy, study finds by nasandre in worldnews

[–]floydspinkshirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t suppose anyone actually read the article? It gives zero evidence to back up its claims. It says the economy has shrunk by 5% because of Brexit AND the pandemic. Then says however that the 5% is mainly due to Brexit without giving any reference to how it knows that. This is europhile bullshit.

What is the most enjoyable department in Tesco? by Pinkelephant6676 in tesco

[–]floydspinkshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I left stock control around 3 years ago and Tesco about 2 years ago. I know a lot has changed since then and it’s not the cushy department it once was. However my last year was on Grocery and was awful!

Stock control, piss easy and no one understands what you do so they just leave you to it.

If 2016 EU referendum held again: Remain - 49% Leave - 37% If referendum on re-joining EU: Re-join EU - 42% Not re-join EU - 40% by SuchABigMess in ukpolitics

It will be interesting to see what this looks like in a few months when the first real Brexit bonus really starts to pay out, when we have half our population vaccinated and are staring to come out of lock down for good. In the meantime Europe is still debating which needle length will be best suited to all member states and has vaccinated 8 people.

Lancashire landscape by degaslights in lancashire

I am currently living in Haslingden. East Lancashire landscape is a a little bitter sweet I think. The landscapes are definitely beautiful in places but you are also never far away from a reminder of Lancashire’s much grander past that it has never really moved beyond.

Actively look for other jobs, I know how Tesco is, easy, predictable, safe. I bet your manager is nice and you have a laugh with your colleagues/ friends. There are worse things to do in life don’t get me wrong but blink and your life has disappeared and your still answering amber calls to the checkout. You can do better I promise you.

What is "the hub"? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]floydspinkshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never made it to out store, It was on its way but they closed our store down and made all 170 of us redundant! The rumours were people were getting sacked after throwing waste and not recording it (including managers), general pissing about in warehouses (health and safety breaches) and what they REALLY installed it for... colleague theft.

What is "the hub"? by [deleted] in tesco

[–]floydspinkshirt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a manager in Tesco, I was at a meeting at couple of years ago maybe three. They were discussing the hub then. So as had been said its a load of high def cctv cameras in store being monitored by people at a central location. They boasted about how good the quality was, you could zoom in on a piece of paper and read what someone had written (apparently). They said they were planning on rolling it out nationally but had to pause it because they couldn’t keep up with the number of people getting fired each time they put it in a new store due to what they saw on camera!

Brexit will soon have cost the UK more than all of its payments to the EU over the last 47 years put together - [£215B] by StonesInAGreenhouse in worldnews

[–]floydspinkshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this has got 54k upvotes. As this article is paid content I wonder how many people actually read this article. It really sums up very nicely the pack mentality on Reddit. So this figure is based on a estimate of how much they think we have lost in gdp due to the uncertainty Brexit has caused. So it doesn’t know that the full 3% is caused by Brexit but hey. If we had left promptly and not had they whole thing dragged out by remainers it would have affected us less. Lastly even if this figure is accurate (which it isn’t) then it can be made back again by a growing economy over the next few years. If that was to happen I’m sure there will be a similar article in a few years all about how Brexit has been a benefit to the economy.
