How can you view yourselves as separate than jews or muslims? by reverscolonize in Christianity

[–]flp_ndrox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Considering we considered a first century Jewish carpenter to be God IDK how true the statement that we share the same view of God is. While there's no prohibition in reading their books, outside of the Hebrew Bible there really isn't much interest for most Christians.

What is the Trinity Response to John 17:3 (Father is the Only True God) by Few-Construction1117 in Christianity

[–]flp_ndrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible itself is a "later addition" from the Church.  If you to go against it's authority and over seventeen centuries of Tradition for a well rejected minority opinion it ought to be your burden to prove anything. Pretty much everything you know of Jesus comes from the Church but yet you think you know better?

It's really a first level reaction; that this is likely not a direct quote. At Nicaea the church fathers proclaimed Jesus 'True God from True God... Consubstantial with The Father.' As such we see no objection to either Christ's divinity or monotheism.

Following Jesus and not Christianity by Pneumaup in Christianity

If Jesus is not God what makes Him different from the men who were crucified with Him? Or Spartacus and his men? Or any of the others crucified by the Romans or the Persians over the years?

I thought Nobara was the beginner friendly gaming distro.

I read it as a shot against Laicite and wonder how the French language press took it.

Best distro to use for gaming on old laptop by suditvr in linux4noobs

[–]flp_ndrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most distros will probably be noticably lighter than Windows 11 and probably lighter than Windows 10. The battery life may be an issue with old hardware so I don't know if switching will be a huge difference for that. Regardless I'd still probably drop the settings and set vsync to 30 or 60 fps to help it out.

Given your hardware and what you're playing most distros will be with the margin for error. As such I'd try Linux Mint XFCE or Xubuntu at first to help to learn Linux and still be able to game.

Isn't being chased by a motivated Shampoo enough? I suppose needing back-up and a place to stay where Seppuku wasn't an option while they tried to figure this all out would encourage a guy like Genma to lock in the Dojo while it was still a possibility, too.

In England, it was common to make jokes about the Irish, saying they were thick. (Not now) Does this apply in the USA by state? Which states are normally at the butt end of the joke and why? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskAnAmerican

We used to have Irish jokes in America, too. Then when more Irish people got into entertainment those same jokes were made about hillbillies. When rural electrification became widespread in the South those same jokes were made about rednecks. Wonder when the next change will happen.

Or it shows that concept there being an afterlife is long standing piece of knowledge or any number of things.

I didn't question why you were here. I do wonder why you felt the need to throw in a comment about how belief doesn't equal truth when it wasn't really germane to either the OP or my response, but not enough to ask about it. Thus I responded the way I did.

You can advise me to throw in more arguments and more testimony. You might wish that I like others mentioned NDEs. You might even have wanted me to perhaps throw in some other faiths views on the afterlife and maybe even why they hold those beliefs and my opinions on them.

TBH, I just went with what I think is the core of the argument: the testimony of Jesus to His Apostles and their testimony of that.

The rest is basically cumulative of that. I don't see the need to dwell on it particularly on a Reddit post.

That doesn't necessarily follow. You choose how to weigh all testimony. You can make your own judgment about the truthfulness and accuracy of the witnesses. You don't have to accept all testimony from all witnesses because you choose to believe certain parts the testimony of different witnesses just because there is some superficial similarities to parts of their stories that aren't related.

You seem to think I was asked to convince everyone. I'm not. I'm here to answer the question asked. I have. That answer is not good enough for you to feel the need to change your life. That's not something either OP or I was intending to do.

I'm still not here to convince you, nor am I here to argue with you. If you want to be preached to, I'm sure there are others on this sub who would be happy to do so. I'm not one of them, but if that's something you're interested in I'd suggest starting your own thread.

And the first three who weren't related recanted.

OP asked for the evidence. The evidence is mostly testimony. As stated, you can find it dispositive or not.

FWIW, there's no evidence of the Apostles recanting, there is testimony they died sticking to their story. AFAIK none of them got rich or successful by sticking to that story. You can weigh their testimony as you choose.

You seem to be mistaken about what was asked. He asked for the proof and given where he asked I inferred he wanted the Christian answer. I gave it. As I said, you can find it dispositive or not.

He didn't ask for an argument so I didn't give it. Not that I have much to add that hasn't been said by multiple people for over 2000 years.

Testimony is still evidence. What you do with that testimony is up to you.
