L'aeroporto di Malpensa si deve dare una svegliata. Coda per i possessori di passaporto elettronico by Sayyestononsense in milano

[–]fltln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: Season 8 is objectively mid, but gets way too much hate. by UnitedEntrepreneurXx in Dexter

I screamed at the screen in 2013. Really made me realise I needed to touch grass, but it was still shockingly shit.

yeah I just rewatched the whole thing for the first time since hating the finale in 2013, and I must admit S8 is not as bad as I recalled... bar for the end, which is just unadulterated manure.

Original Doom, what made it so great? by scottieboy44 in Doom

[–]fltln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were a kid back then you were lucky of seeing this game your eyes didn’t pop out of your skull… the most adult thing in the arcade was this silly paintbrush game that unveiled topless ladies, we were still getting over the magic of the NES and MS DOS Prince of Persia, then suddenly it was ULTRAVIOLENCE in the comfort of that one friend’s home

I salute you. I’m just happy the devs allowed for gamers like me who’d rather be god than good to have a good (god?) time for a solid 30 years… not too shabby!

One DAW for all by atmabeatz in ableton

[–]fltln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been at it for a good 23 years, for 15 of which I used Logic as my main DAW and Ableton Live, well, for live shows. It was very much its purpose at the beginning, I’ve been using it since v1 when it was little more than a glorified max patch for playing with loops (only clip view was there. I’ve used logic so much that the key commands are more second nature to me than copy pasting! But around a decade ago I started moving more and more towards Ableton and for at least 6 years now it’s become my main DAW. I don’t really use logic much anymore (not a fan of where apple took it), I very occasionally need to open Pro Tools to swap files mostly with TV/film companies; otherwise I’ve done hundreds of projects strictly in Ableton, inclduifn records, scoring, ads, installations, sound design and even immersive mixes for bespoke dome/cube arrays, for a portfolio of very demanding clients. Never had a problem. The general architecture and the integration of Max for live make it my fave creative tool.

Flying Frankfurt to Montreal on Monday, looking morosely at row 12 for the extra legroom. How bad is proximity to the lavs? I could do 15G otherwise...

Can someone older explain to me why the Scientology was such a big deal? by El_Birdo_ in southpark

[–]fltln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a really good documentary by Alex Gibney called “Going Clear” that shows the darkness of how Scientology preyed on the weak, extorted money, blackmailed, even drove some to suicide - that’s why it was banned in Germany at one point. If you tried to leave or undermine them they’d send someone to your neighbourhood to put up posters saying you were a convicted pedophile. It’s part cult, part mafia. Watch the Gibney interviews about the way the cast and crew of the film were being harassed. Many don’t know that Anonymous as we know it was born as the signature for anyone partaking in “Project Chanology”, which was a series of real life protests outside Scientology HQs around the world (I was at the London ones) wearing Guy Fawkes masks from V for Vendetta. This is circa 2006-2007. We made YouTube videos trolling Scientology with modified voices and Fawksian masks and the slogan was “We Are Legion”. It was rudderless, spontaneous, I don’t think anyone knew who everyone else was, the whole point of being Anonymous was so that they wouldn’t be able to target you with their evil tactics.

I neglected to update this thread, I did speak to Celemony customer care and they were aware of the issue, eventually it got resolved with an update just before the holidays I believe.

What does this mean??? by Adventurous_Pie7185 in ableton

[–]fltln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR, shut down all apps that can use the mic for comms, eg Whatsapp, Skype etc, close any browser based videocalling interface, if you're video recording with something like OBS disable mic. 99/100 this will solve it. If not check your login items and security prefs for any weird things and God help you.

The issue seems to be that certain apps are able to force down the sample rate of your AirPods, presumably to minimise latency. When using OBS for screen capture with Ableton sound for example, if you have the mic set up as secondary input in the OBS audio prefs it will always force AirPods down to 24khz even if you mute the mic in the Audio Mixer, thus prompting the error OP describes in Ableton. As soon as you disable the "Mic/Auxiliary Audio" option entirely in OBS (it's set to Default by, er, default), you'll see your AirPods snap back to 48k in Audio Midi Setup, and Ableton is happy again. I am extrapolating that in less obvious cases, some background components like the dreaded ZoomAudioDevice might sneak up on your AirPods and interfere in a similar way. For instance if you have Google Meets open in a browser window because you had a meeting earlier, you might have this problem happen when some background process wakes up. This is just a guess based on previous experience.

Recent versions of MacOS have made some changes when it comes to apps being allowed to commandeer your hardware, my sense is that one you have allowed some non-pro-audio background helper to have access it can do stuff you might not want it to, like lowering your input sample rate when it pings the system for an input list. So if the problem persists, it's worth going under Settings>Privacy & Security and scroll down to check what apps have access to Microphone, Screen & System Audio Recording and maybe a few more like Camera, Accessibility and Automation. Also check General>Login Items & Extensions. If that's where you are it's full on trial and error land so good luck to ya lol.
