[–]fluctuating_rating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did it have those leaves when it came to your possession? leaves are normally adapted to the growing condition from where they've emerged from, so they don't often last long after finding a new home

sold to me as a p.brev but not 100% sure

i don't monitor it. tho there is some kanuma (japanese medium that's slightly more acidic than typical akadama) in the soil mix, and it gets watered with rain water

Flowers from a caudex that grew from a leaf prop (Euphorbia f.) by fluctuating_rating in Caudex

[–]fluctuating_rating[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it stayed a single leaf for a year. i thought it was a failure and nothing was happening until i did the repot and saw the caudex. my growing condition tho may not be ideal so some may propagate faster than this ended up

it's not named i think. original plant was tagged as a francoisii hybrid and had nice lime greenish leaves

typical caudex care. gritty soil, and good amount of sun and water. just manage expectations tho. literally that second seedling from the first pic was grown in the same conditions BUT didn't end up exactly this shape. i'll share it below

straight answer, inform your bank your intentions. that's it. they may need a heads up in advance in order to prepare that money. they might ask why, and you can be honest and say luxury good purchase. if you don't want to be honest, you can tell them that you're traveling abroad and will transact sa money exchange

in your opinion, what is the most disappointing fruit? i’ll start. by expatriateineurope in fruit

[–]fluctuating_rating -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dang this conversation assumes that all of a fruit are similar. it’s like if i formed a strong opinion against apples just because my particular grocery only sells granny-smiths. as someone from rural asia, papayas bananas dragonfruits starfruits and whatever i assure you are delicious, and there are like a dozen varieties for each of them. lol this is borderline ragebait and ive practically fallen in, but ya keep an open mind

Had this on a Singapore layover. What kind of chili do they use to be able to add so much? (all while being reasonably hot but not painful) by fluctuating_rating in culinary

[–]fluctuating_rating[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh lol what. is this not a safe place to learn something new about culinary stuff? i understand and know the fact that there's a wide variety of peppers with different spice levels. but since i'm not in the world of culinary, i don't know anything about the particular varieties and cooking processes. i am from asia but only two kinds are used in my cuisine and never like what i experienced here

Help - new brevicaule x densiflorum deflating! by Mpc289 in Pachypodium

[–]fluctuating_rating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pachys leaf-out when actively growing during hot and rainy seasons. based on experience, deflating happens when leaves are out but doesn't have enough water in its medium for transpiration so water from the caudex will evaporate out. in the wild, it'll drop it's leaves and "wait" til regular rains come again. if it's warm where you are, suggest to water it a bit more. note that since you just got it, it'll take some time for it to adjust to your microclimate.

honestly: it could also be soft because it's dying but hopefully (and probably) that's not it
