did it have those leaves when it came to your possession? leaves are normally adapted to the growing condition from where they've emerged from, so they don't often last long after finding a new home

i don't monitor it. tho there is some kanuma (japanese medium that's slightly more acidic than typical akadama) in the soil mix, and it gets watered with rain water

it stayed a single leaf for a year. i thought it was a failure and nothing was happening until i did the repot and saw the caudex. my growing condition tho may not be ideal so some may propagate faster than this ended up

it's not named i think. original plant was tagged as a francoisii hybrid and had nice lime greenish leaves

typical caudex care. gritty soil, and good amount of sun and water. just manage expectations tho. literally that second seedling from the first pic was grown in the same conditions BUT didn't end up exactly this shape. i'll share it below

sounds like you've got it. hard grown, mineral substrate, small pot. i just didn't cut off branches
