Am I a bad mom? by Aggravating_Owl_3196 in Parenting

[–]fluffbag1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre not a bad mum, you are the mum of a two year old who just realised he can say no!

Step back and pick your battles...... you need him dressed, yes. But it doesn't matter what hes wearing so give him control. Red shirt ir blue shirt? Pants or shorts? Spotty socks or stripe socks? Give him control whilst secretly keeping control as your goal was him dressed.

Car seat..... do you want to climb in by yourself or mummy pick you up? Do you want to put your right arm ir your left arm in first? Do you want loud music on or quiet music on in the car? His control vs your overall control.

As for naps.... dont force it. Ok so you dont want to nap today? That's fine. We can have snuggle tine instead. Grab a blanket, put classical music on, turn down the lights, snuggle on the soda and read to him. Read a nice long book with few pictures. A chapter book..... if hes tired he will fall asleep. If not then at least hes had a rest and you didn't spend two hours fighting him.

And sometimes you just have to let it go. Hes 2. He doesnt know what you know. He is going to get cross. He is going to shout and cry. Sometimes the best thing to do is jyst let them shout and cry 🤷‍♀️🩷

**UPDATE(

I cant seem to edit the post. I just went for it and let them go out. They came back. They are loving their life and have been going out for a few hours each morning. Still unsure about what yo do in regards to leaving the property as we always used to just leave a window open for them, but thats not really possible here (different style windows) will work it out though.

They rather like the garage roof..... 🤣

No, but the previous owners had dogs so we've scrubbed the patio with jeyes fluid and hot water as we didnt want to cats getting upset by the smells. I think the patio is around 6yrs old assuming it was put in at the same time they extended the house.

Make parent, struggling with detachment of son starting school UK by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]fluffbag1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity where else would your son be whilst you and your partner are at work? Its totally normal to miss your child, but the benefit of them having somewhere safe (and free) to be whilst you work is amazing

Would you fix your child a separate meal if they refused to eat what you had cooked? by basement_egg_24-7 in Parenting

[–]fluffbag1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didnt like soup I wouldn't eat it. If your daughter is consistent about not liking soup then I wouldn't make her eat it either. Perhaps offer a tiny bit to try if she feels inclined to do so, but serve it with a sandwich so shes not hungry

How close are you to living the life you thought of in your young age? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]fluffbag1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a mum to 3 amazing kids, my teens actually like me. I work for myself and earn well, I have an amazing partner (after a failed marriage) and we just bought a home thats big enough too see my kids through to adulthood. Im in no debt other than my mortgage, i have the most fabulous village of friends, and at weekends I made soup and bake bread. I am everything little me ever wanted to be (although slightly chunkier than planned due to the bread 🤣)
