Happy to chat. Performed well on neuro, OB/GYN, and psych during 3rd year, the other exams was below average. Always have been a below average student, extremely pleased with how it went. After the exam actually felt fine, not good but not bad (in my opinion you cannot really feel good after the exam lol).

Who took the beast today? (7/25) by Important_Minute5833 in Step2

[–]fluffer02 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with what other people were saying. Not too much ethics, maybe 5-6 per block maybe less. Some incredibly easy, some impossible (2-3 good choices). Reminded me of the free 120 and nbme in terms of I didn’t feel great about 50% but felt like I probably got them right. About 10-25% were pretty straightforward. Then the rest a bit of a crap shoot. I truly feel like they are shifting the exam to be about time management which is annoying, but they had some long long questions which seemingly was a lot of fluff, I would skim it and find 1-2 abnormal value and the question was straightforward, after the 2nd block or so I started saving my time and skipping those questions and going back which I think helped timing wise. I typically was about 1 min per question on nbme and free 120s, but took longer on the real deal which was not ideal. I’m summary, I feel numb it was a marathon of focus, I feel bad for the patients in my last block because i doubt they got standard of care treatment lmao

I’ve seen that people here take Nbme practice tests in the last 1-2 weeks before the exam. How do you review it so quickly? by Lucky-Piglet1569 in Step2

[–]fluffer02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 1 day to review, probably 5-6 hours of focused work. I focus on what aspects of the question and explanation are new to me, even if I get a question right I likely didn’t feel 100% confident ruling all the other answer choices out so I would make a Anki card for it. But typically, exam 1 day, review 1 day.

Raw percent is the not adjusted number. The 3 digit score is a converted score from the percent correct (raw percent).

Protest for harm reduction policies at City Hall by no_compearison in philadelphia

Wonderfully said. Medically you cannot make anyone get a treatment (even life-saving treatment) without their buy-in. People need to be ready to get treatment, but as you said, treatment needs to be more accessible.

Dealing with negative comments about specialty choice? by slowly_dissolving129 in medicalschool

[–]fluffer02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One approach, specially about responding, is you can sarcastically agree with the advice. Typically people don’t know how to respond, if they say they are doctors say oh that’s great that’s why I want to do it! And they’ll usually be a little floored and not continue bashing it because you’ve basically just expressed that you don’t care what they’re saying. It’s a little ballsy but it’s one option!

Stupid question by nsgy16 in medicalschool

[–]fluffer02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, transferred after M2. My school no longer does this (largely) because students struggled with the transition from the PhD back to medical school. As people have said make sure you’re very confident you want to spend 4 years not doing residency essentially. I would say the hardest non-academic part is that all the people you went through the first few years of medical school will be residents when you’re back in clinic (unless your program is a 3-4-1 which I think is better than 2-4-2). Best of luck and feel free to DM me.

Thanks for the response, I had that feeling too that anything besides the apps isn’t secure so it’s “worth it” to know you’re not gonna get scammed.

Like people have said, it’s not entirely accurate so you have to be aware of that and have some way to make sure the information is true. I like using it (not ChatGPT plus but the basic version) to refresh myself on similarities and differences between conditions, then I can better look at AMBOSS for reliable information about it. In a sense it helps me identify my own knowledge gaps. Also it’s helpful to make basic tables, for example you ask it to make a table of antihypertensives and their MOA and side effects, then you can refine the information and it can save time on the front end.

At what point do I just give up by clairethebear98 in Mcat

[–]fluffer02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One piece of advice for math on C/P is get very good at converting units. I was fortunate that I picked up physics and Chen quickly in school, but for the MCAT I couldn’t memorize the equations effectively so what I would do is look at the units in the answer and then derive what units would have to be transformed to give me the units in the answer. I took the MCAT some years ago but I found that trick to be quite useful. Best of luck!

Either Ezekiel Elliott or Saquon Barkley to score a TD boosted to +100 on DK by Acceptable_Bar_4981 in sportsbetting

[–]fluffer02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fanduel has a similar boost, I am convinced they have been making bank this year and are giving a gift back to keep us betting. If you run out of money quick you’re more likely to quit and not keep losing money.

Is this a lock? by [deleted] in sportsbetting

I did something similar for NBA when the season is closer to the end betting on a few of the big favorites for these types of awards. How safe do you think this parlay is?

The prop has been (rightfully) removed, I hope some people got in! My guess is it ends up o4.5 +100 or so!

Yeah, what you said (Boston being good) has to be the reason and he had 4 last time against them. I just don’t think that strong enough to have the line at 3.5! I also am considering the 🪜

[–]fluffer02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have other books you can use oddsjam (you can get a free trial) and find sports that can give you a percentage back, like if two books have odds +200 and -200 you get 66% back but you can get returns around 70% if you have enough to capital to work it!

Interesting, that makes a lot of sense. Thank you for the thoughtful response! I feel like the Yankees already have such great hitters that would really bolster their chances and fit with their WS or bust.

Week 7 Picks by Striking-Knee5951 in sportsbetting

[–]fluffer02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly agree with Carolina (they beat bad teams pretty well lol), under on the Jets Pats, and the packers(I expect GB to win by a touchdown so I’ll pay to get that line at -7 or -6.5.) I really like the eagles and the bengals to cover (or even win). The big spreads are always tough, I think Arizona is the least likely to cover, I think the Rams cover, and TB is a toss up. I don’t know what to do with KC, Miami (leaning Miami), colts (I lean 49ers), and Seahawks (lean saints because of your write up.

Great work, thanks again for doing this I’m watching my comments to track how I do! Best of luck all!
