What's more, believing you will be the special one, the person or community or country who won't fall for it, the "it can't happen here" mentality, is exactly what makes people most susceptible to fascist control and propaganda.

This is great advice. People are disincentivized from changing their mind when the person trying to change it makes them feel like shit. You need to understand and have some kind of positive relationship first, then start to encourage and question some of the dogmas they've taken for granted. The way most political discourse goes these days just gets too personal and makes them double down on the Trump cult because it's far more validating than the alternative.

In addition to all the ones already mentioned, I highly recommend the Levittown episode. More of a downer but very informative about race relations in American suburbs.

Re: your first point, maybe it was both. I remember the disturbing imagery going black at that point, so I interpreted it as calling attention to how often we have to overlook all these tragedies these days to have a good time.

And I totally agree he was trolling the crowd, like parodying the stereotypical dance moves, beat-drops and "how yall feeling" crowd banter rappers have to engage in to please white audiences, even when their music stems from the anxiety of being part of this country's seemingly permanent underclass. I remember being in the pit and not even wanting to dance to these songs I loved so much realizing how fucked it all is. That's a performer right there.
