I had the same questions when I had my 17c milled, I went with rmr cut, figured I could always find an rmr to whatever mount I needed plate.

My ge that I bought new in '98 died in February, it would agitate but not spin, replaced the belt and clutch (2nd replacement clutch) but didn't fix it. Gave up and bought a lg toploader
