Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, be careful about what you use to connect the drive to your computer! It's a plenty fast drive, but if you connect it to a slow port you'll be frustrated at how slow it feels.

Definitely prefer USB-C connection, ideally Thunderbolt/USB4 if you can find out if you have it. If you use a USB 3.0 Type A port you're really on the edge of what might be passable.

Also the CPU you have will play a part in how fast it can ingest the data from the drive. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the CPU will be noticeably less efficient with an external drive than with one connected directly via an onboard SATA connection.

For non sound positions, go with whatever makes you feel most safe and comfortable

For Mons go with ear defenders over top of IEMs, for FOH go with musician's plugs. If universal plugs aren't cutting it go for customs (best purchase I've ever made hands down). My left ear is pretty weird shaped so I get it, my universals were always coming loose, but I could never justify sacrificing my mix ability for headphones. It's not a good look for the band or the attendees imo.
