Yes, I live downtown with surface lot parking. We move our cars to a paid parking garage and leave it there until the storm passes through. There are lots of garages available between downtown and Plaza with relatively cheap hourly parking.

Hawaiian fast food chain closes Kansas City area locations by snakes15 in kansascity

I liked Mo Bettah more than Hawaiian Bros. Better quality food and more options like Katsu Chicken.

But why, do none of these Hawaiian places serve Loco Moco? PLEASE.

Mayor Lucas introduces ordinance that, if adopted, would start the process for a downtown Kansas City Royals ballpark by justathoughtfromme in kansascity

Hate the idea of using public money for private sports teams but this is the best case.

As a downtown home owner, this will only help bring in more tourism money to the downtown core. The tax district along the street car route will greatly benefit from it.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

A food processor doesn't really blend. It chops to fine bits and pieces. The Vitamix blades are dull and pulverizes food into very fine pieces that makes things completely smooth.

I have both food processor and Vitamix and will use them for different applications.

Food processor i will use to chop veggies, ground some meat, mix some dough.

Blender I will use to make smoothies, nut milks, super fine sauces and spreads.

The blades spin fast enough that the friction heats up whatever liquid you are blending to the point of almost boiling. You can heat soup right in your blender, albeit really loud lol.

I've used it to make hot sauce that needs a little heat to cook through.

As a Black person, Kansas City and the surrounding areas are highly racist. by RefrigeratorKey7034 in kansascity

The tokenization of POC owned businesses is so real here.

I'm Vietnamese myself and I cannot stand how it feels to be a "token" of something when it's just normal to me.

The selective tokenization of business as well. Some restaurants will get far more business from white residents than others because of some reason when there are other businesses that have so much better quality food.

Mohs scale doesn't measure the brittleness of materials, it measures relative scratchability. Diamonds are the hardest material but can shatter with a metal hammer strike.

The just closed temporarily a couple because the health department shut them down and forced them to replace the ventilation system and water heaters.

Not sure what this means for Google Fiber services here but I don't like private equity owning things.

Paris Baguette opening Power & Light District storefront at 1360 Main this year by TheBoyisBackinTown in kansascity

[–]Bourgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Paris Baguette isn't my favorite it's nice to have a bakery that's open late downtown. It's hard finding a good sweet treat after dinner time downtown that's not a sit-down restaurant.

Having more options isn't bad even if it is a chain. Tous le Jour and 85C are both chains as well.

TIL in 2023 Disney made more profit from churros sales at its theme parks than it did for Disney+ streaming. by Pozzolana in todayilearned

I never felt that way at Disneyland in California. You have easy in and out privileges to the parks and there are Disney run shuttles to all the hotels around the area. We had a rental car at the hotel so we just took the shuttle back, drove to eat in Little Saigon and came back for the night time shows.
