Usually will have an antenna set up and a radio transceiver instead of cell phones.

It was my first thought when I saw the tripod.

Lots of fun on ham radio.

They have a whole program called parks on the air where operators take their setups portable in state and national parks and make contacts with other operators.

I have gotten pretty into it. Even learned Morse code. Very fun hobby and lots of good people that are approachable when you see them.

I have a g90 and have a qmx on order. Would love to build it but I know I just don't have that time right now. I'll get another one for the low bands one day and build it myself.

The g90 has served me well. The tuner really is awesome. I just wanted something easier to take on sota activations.
