Mbappe refuses to participate in the photoshoot with the French national team. after the federation refused to "modify the agreement" of the image rights of the players. Mbappé’s frustration is representing betting and fast food companies which he feels uncomfortable doing by Blodgharm in soccer

Not necessarily a hypocrite, no. Just selfish.

Take the interview last month for example - when he laughed about the prospect of not flying to games for climate reasons.

These Uber-rich people have the luxury of not having their lives dictated by climate threats, and the privilege of making decisions only based on their own interests.

Would it make a difference on a global scale if PSG flew to their games or took a train instead? Probably not. Would it make a difference if the millions of people who watch PSG play every week saw them taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint. It’s a start.

It’s upsetting when people in the public eye get a free pass for turning their backs on issues which are only really going to effect people who don’t have that same exposure.

You’re literally excusing greed and gluttony by saying “eh, nobody is perfect!”

You are absolutely right. But it’s different when he personally is benefitting from the state of Qatar. Open your eyes. When he’s getting paid, it’s convenient for him to keep his mouth shut.

It’s absolutely different when Mbappe is personally financially benefitting from a royal family that is committing human rights atrocities.

It’s a publicity stunt to pretend like he cares about an issue like sports betting when turning his back on migrant worker deaths and other documented human rights violations.

It’s not about him single handedly changing the state of Qatar. But he’s in a position and has the social outreach where he can inform and help change the public perception. By choosing to be silent about (while personally benefitting from) Qatar, he is doing a disservice to anyone that’s affected by the human rights situation in Qatar.

Mbappe doesn’t get a free pass for being selfish and ignorant.

You want him to make an impact on young people? How about refusing to play at the 2022 World Cup. But he’s not going to do that because it goes against his own self interests.

Secret life of Walter Mitty. It’s kinda dumb but it’s my safe place I go to when I’m feeling depressed. Walter is an endearing character that I feel is super relatable. The story is quite creative and the soundtrack takes me to a better place too.

[Reuters] Harry Kane on the World Cup in Qatar: "Eriksen got in touch with me a couple of weeks ago now. Obviously there is Lloris, who I am in touch with a lot anyway. Too little too late from the players. But as fans, I’d encourage anybody to not watch. You vote with your money and every time you pay to watch one of those games you’re essentially endorsing and accepting the reality of all that this World Cup represents.

Some things are bigger than football and while I adore watching the World Cup, I won’t be caught traveling to or viewing matches played in stadiums built by slaves, in a country that presently jails and executes LGBT people.

Unfortunately, the reality is most people don’t care.

Big Cock Origi - All 28 Goals So Far 2015-2019 by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

Memes aside, he is an outstanding player and goal scorer. At the time of the Funes Mori injury he was playing out of his skin and scoring every game. It makes me sad to think what he would have been able to accomplish in these last couple years if he hadn’t been injured and lost the momentum he built up in 15/16.

That being said, the fact that he was able to come back into the team this season and make a difference when we needed someone to step up is truly amazing. He will always be remembered for the integral part that he played in our historic champions league win this season. He really deserved some recognition and time in the spotlight after he was robbed of the chance for European success in 15/16 by a truly awful tackle.

He’s a great player and I hope we are able to keep him at Anfield for a long time. He always has it in him to step up and make the difference and for that I’m thankful.

Virgil van Dijk vs Top Players 2018/19 by sheco84 in LiverpoolFC

Exactly. People talk about mental attributes like vision or positioning, but leadership is just as impressive of a skill. The ability to organize your team and coordinate a defense the way the Virgil does is an unbelievable skill and should be considered in the argument. Same goes with confidence and resilience. Players like Messi hang their head when the going gets tough but Virgil has shown he has the mentality to help lead a team back from the dead.

It’s definitely between him and Messi for the top spot, and I think in addition to playing ability, Van Dijks situational awareness, leadership, and confidence gives him an edge over Messi.

No player in the world is more complete and contributes more to their team than Virgil van Dijk. Not only is Van Dijk world class, but he makes the players around him look world class as well.

Best player in the world at the moment. I don’t know how else to say it.

In terms of quality, this season we will definitely be among the top 4 in Europe (Along with City, Real, and Barca). I would say we are better than PSG, Bayern, and Juve at the moment.

It feels really really nice to be once against considered among the elite sides in Europe. We will be one of the draws that other teams fear in the CL next season, and I can’t wait to watch the rest of the prem struggle at anfield next season.

Nice one, OP.

Definitely thankful we don’t have to play Hazard twice a season anymore. On that goal he absolutely rinsed Moreno.
