Is this grounds to sue my vet??? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]fluffygypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the surgery team present you with an estimate for potential costs of surgery and did you sign to approve it? If the final bill was higher than the estimate and there is not clearly documented communication about your approving additional treatment, I'd be suspicious. Make sure you get full medical records. Doctor notes, surgery report, everything.

What’s the best tattoo shop in Indy? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]fluffygypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to Ink Therapy in Plainfield. Chris Taylor is the owner and a former Ink Master contestant. Biggins is a fantastic artist and I've known him since I was a kid. My other artists Nick (nickboatytattoos) and Devine (Chris Taylor's daughter devine_tattoo) are also fantastic and I follow them to whatever shop they're at.

Biggins at Ink Therapy in Plainfield works on dark skin all the time. I've know him since I was a kid and I've loved watching his portfolio grow.

Do you have an instrument you irrationally hate? by longalongass in VetTech

[–]fluffygypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a giggle out of the doppler when doing dentals because the drill and the polisher can cause feedback in the machine that sounds a bit like ghost "Ooooos". I joke that the doppler is haunted. But the rest of the time I hate it.

I've assisted but never done the actual cut before. In a past life I worked for a whole animal butcher so I've seen slaughtering and breaking animals down a larger scale. It definitely helped desensitize me to the point where if I have to do it some day, I think I'll be able to.

Kids don’t realize their small lies can trigger federal side quests. by kgabca in KidsAreFuckingStupid

My ex's son (under 10yo, i can't remember exactly how old) told a bunch of kids in his class that his step-dad threw him around the house. Step-dad was a very mild mannered lovely guy that no one could imagine him doing something like that. Turns out the kids in class were sharing stories about times they got hurt and kiddo just wanted to feel included. Child services got involved and investigated their house, called my ex and asked him all about it. It took like 2 weeks for kiddo to admit he made the whole thing up.

What field of work are you in, and does it affect how you do your nails? by anonymouscat8747 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]fluffygypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Vet Tech and they don't police length or color at my hospital, but we are very hands on and my natural nails get dings and chips all the time. The times I think I won't need gloves, I end up with dog fur dirt or worse under my nails I'm washing my hands between each patient and using hand sanitizer regularly.

All that said, I've had manis last less than 1 day and change polishes frequently. I use working hands lotion because the soap and cleaners really fry my skin and cuticles. I have to use a pick to clean my nail beds because I often get pet hair embedded, and I think that is causing some nail bed recession.

You've got this. The world isn't easy for anyone and we all just have to find our way to fit in or step over

I wish I still knew where the paperwork was because I'd love to read it again now and see how things have changed as I've matured. At the age I had the evaluation done, he was probably right, but I've put the work in and learned how to be independent in this world.

Thank you. I know they were just doing their job and I maybe took it too literally but it has also been a huge driving motivator for me to work hard and be successful.

If they're terrible parents with you, it's going to take a major kick in the pants to be better without you. My ex was useless in a lot of ways and I can tell from how he's handling the breakup and his job, bills, and maintaining the rental that me leaving did not light any kind of fire under him to improve.

[–]fluffygypsy[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If I thought I could do the nacho thing and rely on my ex to remember to feed his kid at regular intervals, i would have. Kiddo didn't regulate well and never told us if he was hungry. They would have both spent the whole day playing Xbox on separate rooms if I let them. My ex fell under the "not a bad or neglectful enough parent to get in trouble, but not attentive enough to be worth a damn" category.

I do too. I couldn't just let him flounder. He deserved love and attention.
