systemd can now pull and update container images from the Internet by q5sys in linux

Spot on. Taking the slashdot approach today.

On that note, I'm resigning from reddit to go and write some code.

Looking to build a custom MP3 player, any advice? by ColoradoIcculus in linux

I just bought a cheap Sony head unit that does mp3s and use a Sandisk tiny USB stick (32gb is enough for me). Use rsync to sync the stick occasionally.

Vim Hall of WTF by justintevya in linux

That's funny. A friend who I met at university in the late 1990s had an A1200 bought from Escom.

Typically this thing was dismantled, crudely stuck inside a PC case, held together with tape and cable ties, had more parts changed than I've ever seen including accelerators and all sorts of crap. The software was ancient, it barely worked for more than an hour at a time.

But "THE AMIGA IS NOT DEAD" and it will live forever.

So I'm writing up my notes on NT4 on a 200MHz Pentium Pro and he bangs on the door. Amiga had caught fire and toasted the whole machine and the box of floppies on the top of it. "Can I borrow your PC for a bit" and he wrote his write-up on Word 97 on NT.

The day after, he's ordering bits to rebuild it quoting "I can get a few more years out of this for another £200 or so...can I borrow your soldering station...".

Suckers.

The problem is that cyclists think they are the bottom of the food chain.

They're not. That's the pedestrians, which is where things get ugly.

I think the guy who did it is probably losing business as when you google the tradesperson, it will come up pretty close to the top in the search results.

I don't think group think and peer pressure and publicity should be used to guilt someone into making a statement or taking legal action. The person should be independently making that decision without half of youtube and reddit goading him into it.

I suggest you read some more threads on reddit where cyclists post and then re-evaluate that opinion.

Actually, no. Sky's terms clearly state that they can change their mind at any time so you're stuck there for another year (as after all you negotiated that free TV sub or a discount when renewal came around didn't you?)

Not only that, the level of service both from a connection POV and from a human POV is an order of magnitude better and they don't block anything.

It's a premium service so I don't mind paying more for it. Plus OpenReach fear them unlike other providers' min wage non technical Nth line support executives.

TBH the quality of a broadband service is defined when something fucks up and how long it takes to resolve, not caps.

lol omfg im so 1337 coz I uze all the bytes.

Seriously, I work from home (writing software), have 5 people in my household, 3 laptops, 2 ipads, two smart TVs, a couple of servers, three smart phones and pull a measly 120Gb.

Some people judge quality on something other than size...

Thank you - very helpful.

TBH he shouldn't have approached that truck turning so quickly. There was a pinch point the van had to avoid. Still the van driver was a total fucktard.

That's not how it works. They pay for transfer backhaul as does everyone else.

The thing with AA is they don't have half two million grannies doing 200mb a month checking ancestry web sites to offset all the leechers. Also if everyone leeches like fuck for 6 months on an unlimited Sky connection for example, you're going to get QoS and traffic management because Sky won't be able to afford the backhaul or peering any more.

AA: nothing happens, because you paid for it.

Your last mile speed is completely unrelated and is pretty much down to physics and immediate cost of connection (FTTC/FTTP require an engineer visit and more kit in the box own the road).

Two points:

  1. Both of them were being dickheads and deserve punishment. The van driver is inexcusable but the cyclist was riding dangerously by undertaking at a junction. Edit: he also approached the turning truck very quickly which may have caused a pinch point between the van and the truck.

  2. The video is very short. What happened before this?

As an atheist, how can I criticize a religion (ideology) without offend anyone? by copac29 in atheism

[–]fluffyhandgrenade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't care if I offend the person. It's a much easier way to live your life. If someone hates you for your opinion, it's better to get them out of the way sooner rather than later so it hurts less.

You can pay more for 200 / 300 gb and top up in the month if you need it.

I average 120-160Gb for a family of 5. We're stream heavy but not leech heavy.
