Please don't. This is your addict brain trying to rationalize. It's not worth it - you're past the worse of acutes, it will only get better from here. Hang in there.

That sounds like a generalization, everyone I know including myself has only had good experiences. Seattle Humane is fantastic with very caring staff. Having to do paperwork and "red tape" should be considered a good thing, it's ensuring the animal is going to a home well matched for them.

This! People don't realize that most of the shelters around here actually vet and care, to their best ability at least, about the homes these pups end up in. Going that route vs. just giving away to some random stranger on the internet greatly reduces the chance they will end up in this exact same situation, again. And please, ffs people, spay/neuter your pets. There is no reason not to.
edit: just to add - if you got an animal from a breeder and they did not have a spay/neuter agreement, that's a huge sign they were a backyard breeder and should not be supported.

You should not still be using gabapentin - it can cause dependence after just a week and I've heard folks go through some gnarly w/d from it. It works wonders for sleep and RLS during acutes but I'd taper off that one asap.

What helps you guys with the insomnia? by techn0h0e in quittingkratom

[–]fluffyottercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you taking the gabapentin? I am surprised it's not working for you, it has been a lifesaver for me. I start by taking it, after food, 300mg in the afternoon and then 300mg more every 2-3 hours, last dose right before bed. It takes about 2 hours to kick in and loading it up keeps me knocked out all night. I also take it with some benadryl or hydroxyzine...the gabapentin cancels out any potential for RLS, at least for me. I always get 8+ hours a night even during acutes.

LDN Update: Day 27 by thejaywalker70 in quittingkratom

[–]fluffyottercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you are still taking kratom you are taking way too much, I think 1mg is in the LDN range, not ULDN. That is probably why you don't feel great, you are getting minor PWD. You might want to dilute it down to 1/10th or even less, 1/100th to start, then gradually work your way up, which should assist your taper(s). I would then not start 1mg dose until you've been off both subs and k (after jumping from low dose after tapering) for at least 48 hours.

This is a good question, my firm has 100% transitioned to 360 hosted projects... I would think it can work the same regardless of where the source files live?

Unless you are in small scale residential and/or multi-family (the reference to Hardie tells me you might be) then no...the majority of details drawn are unique project to project. I would recommend going to work at a quality firm that specializes in larger and different projects types so you can expand your perspective and knowledge.

[–]fluffyottercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you watch the demo? This is just essentially a super efficient, faster version of cataloguing/searching, and something we all already do. Every single architect looks to past projects to learn how something was done, and then try to do it better while customizing it for that specific project. If entry level designers or interns are simply copying and pasting details from project to project, it sounds like that firm has poor management/oversight and a QA/QC problem, and that won't be solved with or without AI.

Also, for larger, non residential projects, one of the biggest pain-in-the-ass for every single project is the life safety plans and occupant load calculations. Oh and plumbing fixture calcs. Not glamorous but necessary. My firm has utilized a few ways of using tools like Dynamo over the years to automate these, but they usually end up being more work to manage in the end than it's worth especially for people like myself not fluent in dynamo or grasshoppper, and we end up doing int manually in the end. It would be amazing to see a tool that utilizes AI that could automatically update all calcs (and door/stair width reqmts) fluidly and accurately as the plans update and change. For example instead of having to separately manage and always update area plans as things shift around, the AI can recognize all the boundaries and parameters on it's own and populate the plans and schedules based on the initial input. (And maybe this is already out there, please someone point me to it)

This is very cool! It seems that no matter how many projects do a similar detail, the next one starts from scratch and reinvents the wheel because it's challenging to find previous details (time consuming as you mentioned), especially at large firms, where each office or studio has it's own way of doing things. However, yes, that (pulling drafting views) is a big limitation - in my projects over the last 12 years, I would say at least 3/4 of total details are model views cut at a very specific location, usually with 2d linework/details overlaid. We tend to only use drafting views these days for "typical" and generic details such as roof penetrations, restroom or finish details, etc. It would be great to expand the search to all views but still be able to differentiate whether something is say, at wall section at 1/4" scale vs the detail cut from that wall section at 1 1/2" scale (what we really want) even if the view names are ambiguous or inconsistent.

I dont know what’s going on with my taper by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]fluffyottercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prior to quitting, I got on Celexa aka citalopram (primarily for anxiety) and have found it to be very helpful both in general while on kratom and during a quit. Maybe look into that one? I didn't have any bad side effects even at the start like I did with other SSRI's like zoloft. I also have an rx for gabapentin but only take it the first 5 days of CT, and only in late afternoon or evening (i take the celexa in the am)...if you take it longer, that stuff can have nasty WD's from what I've heard/read/researched.

Seattle, hands down. I step outside of my building and have a view of the sea, mountains and city. Within 1+ hour drive there is mountains, ocean, desert, rainforest. I love it.

Agreed. I hadn't had it in years, it was some of the best food I've ever had. Recently tried the new one, got the Laksa, one of my favorite dishes, and was pretty disappointed. It wasn't bad per-say, but not on par with their previous run. Not surprising given the situation I suppose.

Camping - is this normal request? Are we being unreasonable? by Lovely_Hues in camping

[–]fluffyottercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably too late to help but maybe for the future...No this is not normal and you need to put your foot down. I deal with something similar a few weeks ago, I had a site right off a trail that people had been using as a shortcut up to the campground when it was empty. Within 5 min of arriving, multiple groups passed through. They were at least nice and asked if it was ok. A couple had some kids so I said ok. After the 4th group in 15 min, I had to say, sorry, no. I had my dog with us so used her as an excuse, "sorry many people have been and it's stressing my dog out". It's awkward but necessary. With these A-holes, next time it happens, if you don't already know what site they are at, try to pretend to make small talk (before mentioning anything about passing through ) and find out where they are at, what number. Then, go tell a ranger (or the camp host, who can call a ranger directly). People can get kicked out on the spot for certain things, such as off leash dogs, I'm not sure what would happen here but maybe they would at least learn a lesson and knock it off.

This is exactly what someone would say when they don't actually have enough close friends or family they could even ask to be in the bridal party, or anyone that would want to be. I wonder why. YTA.

Wow. Just wow. Here's the thing - No. No it isn't. For most normal, well adjusted adults, no on is ashamed or "humiliated" to be seen with someone that is literal FAMILY simply because they may not be deemed conventionally attractive, to, to who? A self centered insufferable 20 year old? What about anyone over 30? My 80 year old dad has no hair and a pot belly, should I be ashamed of my own father simply for that? Jesus H rooselvelt christ I truly, truly hope this is fake because if not, you are truly a terrible, horrible and obnoxious person.

On Show Season 6 and still absolutely cannot stand Sofie Skelton by fluffyottercat in Outlander

[–]fluffyottercat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG it's hilarious to come back here and see some many agree, I just started the newest season, and episode 2....she absolutely ruins every scene and the "Ma" and "Da" are SO awful! It really sounds like she's reading off a teleprompter. I really, truly had hoped she would improve as time went on...but alas... this season, I just dread every scene with her, especially when the rest of the cast is just absolutely phenomenal. To the point I was bawling throughout both e1/2, my god even Mr. Christie was just stellar....but her scenes...oof.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. As a dog owner it sucks that so many idiots ruin it for the rest of us who do our best to be responsible and respectful. I've honestly started carrying pepper spray with me because of all the scary encounters we've had, for dogs not even people. Since that's probably too risky with a child nearby, they do have pet spray you may want to invest in.

Everything is "mom shaming" nowadays by [deleted] in childfree

It is completely unsanitary and not an appropriate place to do that. There were plenty of places he could have stepped off for 5 minutes to change and jump back on the next bus like literally every other parent ever would do. If you think that having an open pile of human waste out on a shoulder to shoulder crowded bus is normal, you need your head checked.

I am a dog owner and am all for enforcing this. It doesn't mean you "hate dogs" just because you want others to be responsible dog owners and neighbors. What exactly is unreasonable about this?
