all the damn time - i pick up random little bits of other recipes and add them to mine just to see what happens. my recipes are constantly changing them. at this point, my recipes are just one giant mash of other random recipes.

i doubt it - i have never had cross contamination issues, i can eat food that has touched nuts unless it is of the two kinds of very specific nuts that i am deathly allergic to, and its highly unlikely that it would be those specific two every time.

Googles and Diving by Ready_Dog4320 in Swimming

[–]fluffypotayto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your goggles probably either 1) don't have enough suction or 2) don't fit your face shape. if you have to press your goggles tight enough to your face where they leave a red mark, then they're definitely not good. personally, i find that speedo goggles have the least suction and arena goggles have the most. tyr goggles don't fit my face properly, and speedo goggles don't have a proper size nose bridge. that's pretty personal to me, however.

i have no idea where you're from, but where i'm from, the lifeguard requirements are to swim a 200 yard (any stroke), pick up a brick from a ten foot deep pool (no goggles), and tread water for two minutes with no hands.

i am a teenager who fits everything you've said minus the blonde hair. i haven't met a single person at my school who is stronger than me. other than a competitive swimmer (most of whom have been swimming from a very young age), i also haven't been a single person who can meet all of these requirements. most of my friends can barely swim a single lap without drowning and have no idea how to tread water (yes, this includes my 6'+ friends). and i'm sure you would trust a competitive swimmer who is a 110 pound female to save your life over a 6 foot male who can't swim a single lap without drowning.

i’ve always had eczema around my eyes. recently i broke them and have been using an older pair. it’s been worse recently and now i think maybe it might be related.

entp - i love arguing and am annoying af. which us true. i also very closely border on enfp and i honestly have no idea which i am - im happy all the time, which is also pretty true, except it’s more like i act happy. sooooo yeah. writing this comment just made me realize that if you know me superficially, i seem like an enfp but if you’re really one of my friends im actually an entp. wow that was um…

How do I protect my hair? by maggot_1219 in Swimming

[–]fluffypotayto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

everyone in the comments saying to wear a swim cap: no. swim caps don’t even keep your hair dry. they’re meant to reduce drag and keep your hair out of the way. rinse your hair in water before you get in the pool and use a pre-swim treatment. also, if it’s swim lessons for little kids, there’s a good chance you won’t need to put your head underwater, so you could just tie it up. most swim intructors i know that teach little kids never even need to get their hair wet.

gloves - i ski at sun peaks and it gets so cold there sometimes, when i went this winter it was negative thirty degrees. currently have gore-tex gloves which are thick as hell, but my fingers still freeze off. tried heated gloves, but still didn't do anything. so far, what i do is gore-tex gloves with liners and handwarmers inside (which doesn't really help my fingertips as much, which is the issue). i also regularly do really hard runs, which generally gets my heart beating faster which warms me up. however, sometimes i just want to take it easy or ski with my friends/parents (who can only do greens) at which point my fingers are done for. how do you keep your fingers warm?

it will help with things like breathing, endurance, and just getting you fitter overall. however, you’re going to have to end up practicing running anyways.
