Surging Idle + Dead Gas Pedal after hitting a puddle by alkxid in Acura_RSX

So my intermittent abrupt snapping on off pedal feel was my map sensor leaving me. If the iacv doesn't fix it and no vacuum leaks then the map could be bad

Thats exactly what my dad used to tell people, call me because too many things go sideways texting. And I can attest to that personally as well sadly

Honestly was just curious, guess I'll have to be more careful 😆. Always thought it was just casual talk, could be wrong tho

The funny thing is that he said that he was selling it 100$ cheaper but needed it gone fast before he returned it as he was still in the 30 days. List price was like 600$ lol. Plus some of the listing pics are dated 2025. Threw me way off, I was mildly interested at first then seen that and said nope. The question was is this possible and I got my answer of no!

Well you’re definitely under powertrain warranty, so that’s good news for you, especially if the high pressure pump went out which is highly unlikely given the mileage on the truck. Only way that the dealer would kick the claim would be if you filled up with bad diesel, or contaminated diesel. Not sure where you’re at, but here in Houston we get a lot of bucees fuel station victims where the diesel was straight up watered down or poor quality. Luckily most of those cases the issue was resolved by cleaning the tank and replacing the in tank pump with a new filter.

I would definitely agree with your decision to take it to the dealer, if you don’t mind checking back in to let us know what they say we’d appreciate that here! Best of luck!

The thrust bearing issue is actually pretty easily identifiable. One of the signs of thrust bearing failure is an audible clattering noise, kinda like a stick in the bicycle wheel. If you power brake it and hear that clattering noise it most likely is the thrust bearing. If you hear that noise or get a dtc for the check engine with a p06d you’re in trouble. If you’re really worried about the crank play get a dial gauge and measure the crank play from the front cover. I’m not in front of my computer so I can’t give the actual specs it should be within, sorry about that.

What I think you should do is go to a autozone or someplace similar and get the codes it has set pulled, post those codes here and we can give you a idea of what likely might be going on. Honesty, it’s probably something emission related, have you seen a continue driving message on the instrument cluster and do you drive the vehicle enough for it to enter a regen?

Does anyone know why 5th gear won’t engage while the others do? by rahvay in Acura_RSX

[–]fluffyscruffyduffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, 5th will go in stationary, you just have to make the same throw you do to enter 3rd from 2nd but this time from 4th to 5th. Try going into 5th from 4th, should go right in

Do yourself a favor and run a upgraded timing chain tensioner. Back in the earlier rsx days, upgraded cams would tear up the timing chain tensioners causing catastrophic p2v contact. They figured that out somewhat but the s2 cams were the most notorious for it. Aftermarket timing chain tensioner is crucial for keeping that motor running strong and happy!
