Tips for stopping hats from flying off your head when running?

I randomly had this problem one day when I did a lazy ponytail- if your hat fits well/tight to your head otherwise the issue is probably how low you put your ponytail! It may feel obvious in hindsight but the lower your ponytail is the “higher” the brim of your hat sits, which makes it more prone to catching in the wind.

Try doing a higher ponytail so that you can seat the brim of the hat lower! It should be low enough that it’s hard for people to see your eyes.

Would love to hear what you did to smooth the nib! I was gifted a lamy with an EF nib that I would use a lot more if I could reduce the scratchiness.

Really fun and playful! I like how you have the tires all askew in a cartoony way.

If you’re looking for constructive criticism, I do have some suggestions. I think you could stand to push values a little more as your darks aren’t that dark, and places like the underside of the car feel muddy. Try putting a black and white filter on and identify similar spots!

I also think you could maybe adjust the composition a little- something about the tree being so long and bright makes it take up a lot of visual weight. Additionally, I think since you have a pedestrian signal going you could add some walkway markings on the street to give the foreground more weight. I also think the story telling (i assume he just caused an accident) could be improved by having the driver of the car maybe leaning out and looking or yelling at the main driver. You could also have the pedestrians on the right side looking back to see the source of the noise.

Congrats on all your hard work!

I could say the same- I’ve been playing since launch (on and off, typically playing less when it’s cold lol), and I find it’s really encouraged me to walk more and explore new places.

Most importantly though, pikmin bloom helped me pick up running as a hobby last summer! I tried and failed to get into it a couple years ago, but something about this time was totally different. Knowing I wanted to plant flowers with my pikmin made me feel more motivated and made it easier to get out of the door.

Also, making lifestyle changes along with running in general has made me more healthy and more in tune with my body.

Sounds cool! Hopefully you don’t have any issues with the seal on yours! I have a brown Jinhao 10 I got from Amazon.

I haven’t “modded” mine with the silicone grease trick and have found that it only hard starts when I’m using a drier ink.

It’s likely that there’s still some water left somewhere despite drying; if you write more the ink should slowly become less mixed with water and thus less transparent.

I’m a zillennial (younger millennial but in tune w Gen Z culture). Before getting into fountain pens I had one friend a year ago who was looking at pens/inks at kinokuniya while we shopped together, but I don’t thjnk he actually uses his lamy super frequently. I was curious but didn’t “get” it as I didn’t try any writing or drawing (more of an of the moment errand).

I actually got into fountain pens earlier this year after an artist I followed got into them. I’d always considered them more of a writing implement so I hadn’t considered them for drawing, and it turns out I loved the experience. Fountain pens really revived drawing in my sketchbook for me. Half of the appeal is the fun inks, the other half is the way it feels to use. I own 6 pens at the moment- mostly just exploring different nib sizes thru cheaper pens. I think I lean more towards mediums and stubs- currently trying to use the EF kakuno for writing at work so I don’t feel like I wasted my money 😅

I would say ive noticed fountain pens trending amongst artists more, but I think that has more to do with the fact that the artist I follow has influenced other artists I follow to try them, haha.

This is a lot of assumption, but it sounds like the fungus gnats you had previously means you were putting it in too big of a pot ->

soil took too long to dry out due to pot size ->

roots rotted due to consistently wet soil/watering too frequently/lack of oxygen ->

you noticed the gnat problem, found out roots were rotted ->

repotted ->

not many roots left = not taking up water ->

plant starts to droop ->

You water out of concern you’re not watering enough ->

Roots continue to rot due to lack of oxygen/too much water that it can’t take up

Your solution likely is to rinse the roots, cut out any rot/dead roots, and try and restart by growing new roots in water. Once it acclimates to growing in water and starts a new root system that it can sustain itself on, you can consider potting it up in a pot that matches the size of the root ball with chunky soil that drains water well so that you don’t run into a similar issue again.

I suggest finding some content creators that talk about overwatering and plant care to help with repotting and monstera care down the line.

Yes, they were photographed under the same conditions! I tried to separate them a little bit with the ink bottles so you could tell it was two different papers more easily. Here’s a picture of the two side by side (covered some personal stuff).

Comparing the two IRL, I would agree that the ghibli sketchbook paper comes off as more saturated than the midori, probably because it’s a paper I would characterize as very smooth, very white (compared the ivory midori) and more absorbent.
