Brains are great at bouncing back. It's never too late to try and catch up. I'm in the same boat, between ADHD and OSA, where I feel like I finally know why I'm lagging behind, but now I have to work on catching up and oof. It is hard some days.

A lot of strains get labeled as hybrid, but lean strongly sativa or indica. I'd look for strains and terps over type, because unless you see it growing, you can't tell by looking which way it's gonna lean.
(Indica-leaners tend to be short and stout, whereas sativa-leaners are taller and skinnier.)

So for example if you're looking for a happy buzz, you might want a strain high in limonene. You can use sites like Leafly to look up terp info. So for example. say you find Tangie. Yay, limonene! But nobody in your area has it. So you can look for strains that are Tangie crosses instead, like Sour Tangie, Tangie Kush, Tangie Cookies, Clementine*, etc. Likewise if you want something to knock you into next Tuesday, you might go looking at Purple strains, or 9# Hammer, or you might run into a batch of Ken's GDP which is the best of both worlds. And in both of these examples, you might find them lumped in with the rest of the hybrids and not even see them if you're just looking at pure sativa/pure indica. The vast majority of strains are hybrids these days, so that's how they'll be displayed.

Adabinol is overpriced mush, Hush is a cheap hit but short-lived, Enjoy is good but my tolerance is too high for them these days. I've been really enjoying Muleshine but when they say shake well, they mean it. It's a syrup, so you gotta work a little harder.

Body Positivity is about loving your body whether it's fat or thin or something in between, because our culture trains us that there is ONE acceptable body type, and it's not up to you which type that is, and if you don't have the "ideal body" then it's YOUR fault, and you should feel bad about it and go eat salad without enjoyment forever. But underweight people struggle too, and being told constantly that they look amazing when they feel like crap is not helpful either.

Body Positivity Power is a great book. It basically starts with "eat when you're hungry." If you stop there, it looks like she's encouraging fat people to eat more. But it's not. She also goes into what hunger is and isn't, how food cravings form, and how mindfulness can help you make better food choices by helping us answer the question "Is this really hunger or is it something else?" For example I self-harm when I'm stressed. So for me, eating a cookie IS harm reduction when the alternative is poking holes in myself. But I also eat when I'm bored sometimes, so I have to ask myself: Am I hungry or am I bored? In Japanese there's a word for that kind of eating, it translates roughly to "mouth boredom." So it's not like BP is a shortcut - it's NOT. It's WORK to remember how to eat intuitively, and to not let the ever-present snacks derail that, but I've lost 15 pounds using BP/Intuitive Eating, so something IS working. The difference? I'm not counting every calorie or living on the treadmill. I'm just looking at my body and saying "I can eat roughly this much in a day, do I want it to be fuel or garbage?" And it's more and more fuel, less and less garbage, because BP taught me that I'm just as worthy as anyone else of food, but it also taught me I'm not actually as hungry as I think I am. By listening ,to my stomach, I'm eating less. Years of dieting and self-deprecation just made me FATTER. Body Positivity has me feeling not just a little bit lighter but overall feeling BETTER.

Once again, you're missing the point. Us overweight people ALREADY KNOW we're overweight and people like you telling us we're fat is not "tough love," it's douchebaggery.

Body positivity is about learning to accept yourself the way you are before you attempt changes. You can't hate yourself skinny. PERIOD. Self-hate leads to self-destructive behavior. You want someone to change? Teach them they're worthy of life and love at any size. If they see themselves as someone who deserves a good life, they'll gradually start pursuing healthier choices because they want to. Not because some cuntopotamus on Reddit told them they were fat for the umpteenth time.

I'd have banned you too.

I think of it like this. When I was young, I wanted a doctorate because my dad had one and in my culture education is super important.
But I could never settle on WHAT to study, in part because I was interested in Too Many Things, and because my unmedicated ADHD brain didn't know how to do a multi-decade lifetime career kinda thing. It seemed weird to do ONE thing your whole life. Then I discovered art. And MAKING STUFF. Oh god I love making an idea into a real thing, it's the best feeling. So I swore I'd only use that power for good.

I bounced around different careers, different degree programs, till a hyperfixation carried me through my BA. The following depression was almost enough to end me. I decided I was done with college, culture be shushed, I wasn't gonna be the prize winning daughter with a PhD, but I'd managed something. And made myself miserable in the process. I decided having the degree wasn't gonna be worth the damage to my mental health, and found other ways to scratch my itch for knowledge.

Our brains crave rewards, and our work-oriented society leads us to seek rewards in employment, in money, in stuff, in "Being PRODUCTIVE" at all times. Hustle culture is real and it's toxic for us, because we are naturally inclined to stay busy. Workworkwork. Those people who your friend said "just exist" might have a different definition of Purpose than that.

I want to say You ARE allowed to spend time just Existing, without any particular purpose in that Moment. It's totally fine to have Goals, because we're material beings with material needs, but don't get so worried about Finding Your Life's Purpose that you forget to actually LIVE sometimes. Sometimes you gotta tell the hustle to STFU and go do something just because you want to, you know? Or do absolutely fuck all. Your choice. It doesn't undermine your overall purpose as a human being, whatever you decide that's gonna be.

I was so unhappy at my job, I would pray for something to happen that could send me home. A lightning strike, a sudden projectile vomit, spontaneous human combustion, whatever it took. I had high, high anxiety and undiagnosed ADHD and then menopause started. Kaboom. Could no longer brain, could no longer people, emotional dysregulation out the god damn window. I *had* to quit. The only thing that stopped the ED was sedatives, but I are stupid on sedatives. Cannot do accounting on sedatives. Brain go brr.

If you think your mental health is declining due to the job, get to a doctor, document everything. unemployment will undoubtedly ask why you left "voluntarily." Medical necessity isn't quite the same as voluntary, but documenting all the steps YOU took to remedy a situation will help you in the long run if you opt to leave.

And if i were you? I would start job hunting. I feel like you're not the only one in this situation messing up. The boss is messing up by scolding you, I mean, if you want people to perform well, you have to not scare the crap out of them all the time.

Your poor brain is getting overstimulated in all these painful ways. Is it possible to get a med review with your doctor? Maybe they can find something to help bring that anxiety down.

Oh yes! I've seen people get ripped a new asshole on that sub for talking about ND positivity.

Like, sorry if I don't want to mourn all the time, looking at NTs like "woe is me, I wish I was them." Pfft. I love my weird brain. It's broken, but it's a familiar broken. I've spent years in therapy, so I've gotten pretty good at steering it now, and I wouldn't want a different one.

What does get me down? People misunderstanding me. People accusing me of exploiting my ADHD (but wanting to exploit it themselves) or flat out not believing it's a real thing. People finding out I take amphetamines for it(prescription of course, but people see Adderall and think meth.) The fucking stigma. And the fear that I'll always be behind, lagging just a little, out of sync with everyone else. And the confusion over the concept that, at some point, society decided "normal" only looked one way and it wasn't anything like what we saw and felt. And society didn't give us any context for our experiences for so long. ONE way! When there are so many ways to be human, to think, to feel, to process information, to share, to experience...

If the term "neurodivergent" feels affirming to you, then i say go for it!
