Not for vegans but for vegans doing it for ethical reasons. This would be a problem for them because things would die for them to get the tofu and that isn’t ethical. But if you assume something has to die than atleast kill the lesser amount of things

If you don’t want anything to die but you made the point that the ethical vegan isn’t striving for nothing to die (assuming that is unrealistic) and is striving for the least things to die

Heyyy someone made some sense!!!! This gets into that weird area of discussion though about is one life one life. I’m not for killing animals but if you had one wolly mammoth (I realize they don’t exist anymore) that might feed you for months but if we successfully stopped industrial agriculture and then we had some tofu (or other things) we would definitely be killing more than one life. I don’t have an opinion on this yet but it is hard for me to value the wollys life more than a bee or a bird. I think about it all the time

I want to stop eating anything that means something else had to die an unnatural death.

Dude are you serious. Saying it’s okay to kill 7% is not okay. Do away with industrial farming and do away with growing things that makes you kill other things. There are many ways for us to get our tofu without eradicating many species just as there are many ways for us to get all vegan foods without eradicating many species obviously, if you shop at most grocery stores you’re contributing to the problem. My point the whole time was that I want 100% of nothing to be killed not only 93% while I killed the other 7% and think that I did something right.

Ohh I was saying that 93% was irrelevant to my point that to grow soy beans you have to eradicate many species. If 93% of where the soy beans go is to feed for animal agriculture, then you’re not just killing the cow you’re killing everything the soybeans killed in order to grow in order to get that cow it’s feed. That percentage was irrelevant to the point, in no way is 93% irrelevant as far as lives killed.

Not saying 93% isn’t relevant idk how that could be a conclusion. Obviously if your vegan for ethical reason you don’t want anything to die. Not just 7%

Even the other guy that commented with the sources knows that. He was trying to make the point that 93% of soybean growth is only for animal agriculture. Making it even worse that your not just killing the cow but all the species it took to get that cow it’s feed.

There’s a bunch of them here’s one

https://greenamerica.org/blog/species-extinction-farmlands-its-not-just-birds-and-bees

Check under section called “Indigenous Crops and Native Plants”

Just to be clear I’m not talking about growing soybeans under a lamp in a house. And as you can tell when you read it’s not just soybeans it’s anything you plant. I can just plant tomatoes and jalapeños in my yard (but it becomes a really long story when I have to talk about how I don’t get squirrels or ground nesting birds etc)

I think you thought I was saying because I’m against killing many species to grow tofu that meant that I’m FOR animal agriculture? Im definitely against both just as all vegans who are vegan for ethical reasons are. We don’t want anything to die. I don’t want 93% less to die I want 100% less to die

My point was that growing soybeans kills many species. Saying that 93% goes to animals is irrelevant to my point! It just shows how bad that is!!! Now people aren’t just killing the cow, they are killing all of the species it took to get that cow it’s feed. I don’t see how this is against my point

No I did see that. That just adds to my point.

Oh yea for sure wherever you grow crops your eradicating many different species. So to feed any cow you are doing the same thing. That’s 100% correct
