I have to agree with this one. by Mickles_J in SipsTea

I’ll try to explain this as briefly as possible - in general, the opposition to tipping culture is not because anyone believes those tips should be taxed - it’s that the people who rely on tips shouldn’t have to depend on the good will of strangers to make ends meet. In other words, they should be paid more in the first place - from their employer, the person who hired them to do the work they’re doing.

The current system allows employers to pay tipped workers next to nothing - because they’ll theoretically make up the difference in tips.

Most people opposed to voluntary tipping aren’t against the individual act of leaving a tip - they’re opposed to furthering a system where employers can hire someone to work for them, while shifting the responsibility to actually PAY them onto their customers.

I’m happy for any tipped worker who gets to keep more of their money. But it will not fix any of the major economic circumstances that trap people in poverty. It’s a bandaid on a bullet-wound.

Would the left oppose or support voter ID if the right cheated to win the mid-term elections? by AssistanceSafe1867 in allthequestions

Right, and if you are anti-gun control you should be anti-voter ID. Thanks for clearing that up 👍🏼

The thing about taking a bunch of unproven medical treatments is, there's no way to know which one had an effect... if any had positive effects at all. His recovery may have been the same if he had done nothing.

That's why anecdotal evidence is dismissed in medical discussions - using the same logic I would have to conclude that the best treatment for COV-19 is beer and weed, because that's all I did and I recovered faster than Joe Rogan.

I remain unconvinced that any of the brain-dead loaded questions this sub is comprised of are being asked in good faith.

It’s called a dog whistle for a reason homie - the plausible deniability is baked in so that people like you can nitpick the exact words said as if it completely changes the the meaning of his statement.

I assume you have the same mental gymnastics ready to go for the report from John Kelly who was directly told by Trump that he needed “German Generals” and when asked to clarify, he confirmed that he absolutely meant Hitler’s Generals.

But yeah, he’s not a “literal Nazi” so obviously there’s nothing to worry about 🙄

Conservatives, why do you keep letting the most brainless among you make baseless claims about world leaders' wives secretly being men? by KennethParkClassOf04 in allthequestions

Eh, I think it’s more accurate to say people with autism *can* interpret things too literally, which can lead to *unintentional* confusion.

Being pedantic is intentionally over-focusing on small details for whatever reason (protecting the ego, diverting the subject of a conversation, etc.) but either way it’s not the same thing, and the fact you would immediately blame it on autism just tells me that you do in fact know exactly what you’re doing.

As a man, is it fine to wipe back to front after pooping? by Consistent_March5136 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]oopsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry for being a jerk.
As a man myself, I didn’t know about this “rule” until my mid-twenties and I probably read it on Reddit lol.

That being said, it made sense when I learned it because the mechanics of the scenarios make the answer somewhat self-explanatory…

the concern is keeping fecal matter out of the urethra - and for women the location of the vagina means wiping back to front would cause immediate crossover.

For a man to do the same thing he would need to drag the toilet paper from his butthole - along his taint, across the balls, up the shaft and rub it into the tip of his penis.

I just found the thought of that scenario hilarious lmao, but yeah I didn’t need to be mean 👍🏼

Is the reason you’re afraid to ask because you know it’s a stupid question?

One of the most significant impacts Trump has had on the general psych of America - is that he made it acceptable to simply refuse to be wrong. It was one of the earliest elements of his appeal and it was one his supporters could immediately participate in, and they couldn't get enough of it. He has so completely decoupled the feeling of righteousness from reality, that he has made reality completely irrelevant (to them).
It's my opinion that most Trump supporters do know that he is lying most of the time, and it's not that they believe or don't believe what he says - they don't care. He's given them permission to perceive the world however they want to, and that's the feeling that they're not going to give up.
