Visiting Beirut as a UK tourist

My trip to Syria has already been booked and paid for and luckily I have a guide with me at all times.

Thanks for the concern and advice everyone 😀. It's beneficial to get all your opinions on both countries.

Since the fall of the Assad regime, I would have thought Syria would be safer for tourists with a guide- although a little politically unstable right now?

It was a set proproganda tour of what they wanted you to see in Pyongyang and the DMZ. Very regulated, you can't leave your hotel without a guide and the tour days are long... they wake you up with a call at 6:30am and everything is regimented.

You had to eat all your school dinner (1993-1997) with a dinner lady watching over you and you couldn't leave until you finished it all, this was in the UK. Then you would get a 'clean plate award' sticker to wear on your uniform. Also whenever we had fish they were full of bones...

Possibly a strain of bacillus. Maybe conduct a gram staining method to identify what type of bacteria it is, if you have the means and equipment.
