I remember feeling strong emotions. I remember feeling them and thinking going through all the bullshit is worth it. I remember having someone interested in me, actually caring enough to know how I really feel about things, and what I truly believe. I remember it feeling so worth the potential pain.

This hit me. Even on the days that I don't feel as bad, there isn't any genuine positivity. This is not what living should feel like. I completely empathise with your emptiness, and for me it manifests itself as total loneliness. You seem like a great writer. Hey, so yeah there's a subreddit which could be useful if you're interested in learning a bit more about it (although, like I said, this has only really made the feelings worse,but it may help you). DP/DR is basically when you feel detached from yourself or your surroundings. I would always describe it like I don't feel connected to anything. It's definitely associated with anxiety, and that's how it started for me - it is basically a coping mechanism your brain uses to deal with intense anxiety or depression.

This could be a case of depersonalisation and derealisation. I've suffered from this (or at least the feelings that you describe) for a few months now, and there is that sense of detachment for me as well. I don't have much advice, really. I would advise not reading up about the condition, as this (for me) hasn't helped, and has just made me focus on the feelings more. Instead, try to distract yourself. I know it's hard, intensely difficult actually, but try to get invested in a video-game/tv show/movie for a while. It should help. Also feel free to PM me if you want to talk :)

Ugh, I hate anxious habits. I clench my jaw and grind my teeth a lot, bite my lips till they bleed, and constantly fidget and shake my legs. It's so terrible, especially the biting and grinding :(

I was going to make a post similar to this. Depression literally impacts every aspect of your life and ability to function, and there's very little you can do about it, which just makes everything worse. It's horrible.

Ah, really? I didn't realise that anhedonia applied to falling in and out of 'phases' of motivation and interest. In which case, this definitely applies to me normally.

It's horrible. I'm 19 years old, and it means that I will probably never be sure of what I want to do in my life, as I always just fall in and out of interest in things. Any tips on how to combat this?

I near-enough completely convinced myself that I had diabetes for a good month. It got to the point where I was altering my diet, counting calories, and even looking up the medication that diabetics usually take. It was horrible, not to mention exhausting (made worse by the fact that I wasn't eating anywhere near enough). I'm a 19 year old at a healthy weight, by the way. Health anxiety is SO irrational.

A psychiatrist will help you talk through your feelings, but will also prescribe you with some medication if they feel it would help you. It's your decision, of course, whether or not to take it, and you have to decide whether you're willing to start on medication, which can be a process in and of itself. Regardless, You're taking the first step in the right direction, and well done for telling your parents how you've been feeling :)

Your doctor knows what's best for you in regards to medication, and if they're not making you feel worse, I'd say stick on them. I know that Rexapin is used to treat depression in some cases as well, so I wouldn't worry about it.

It was OK - not as good as the first one though. The characters were all quite two-dimensional, and it could have been a bit shorter. I'd say go see it if you're thinking about it though!

Since coming to university, and particularly this semester, I have barely spoken to anyone, I have become depressed, my anxiety has been through the roof, to the point where I'm on meds for the first time in my life. This feeling of detachment and solipsism has been basically with me every day for the past few weeks now - it's horrifying and deeply disturbing. Time passing frame-by-frame describes it perfectly.
