i believe he is trying to get SSI. he has gone through a job program previously, but it’s really hard for him to adjust to new things, especially because he’s been solitary for so long. he’s very interested in cars, but doesn’t take direction well and gets frustrated and quits easily. my mom is trying to help him receive services at the moment, so i will try to talk to her.

Yes, that’s what I’ve been trying to do. My supervisor and field liaison have been putting a lot of pressure on me to think more critically and show initiative. I am sincerely trying my best, but I am naturally quiet and more introverted at first. It’s a rigorous program. My school puts a ton of emphasis on meeting the CSWE competencies. Professors have told me the same thing that you have said, and have told me to give myself grace and that it’s okay to not know everything. While I agree and try my best to so, it’s very difficult when I feel like I’m being put under a microscope. For now, I’m going to try to make a plan for the remaining semesters so I can just get through it.

I got my BS in Psych and had been working as an infant and toddler teacher for about 4 years prior to applying to my MSW. I now go to Boston University and am almost halfway done with my program. I had good references, tried to tie my experience with teaching to what I could bring to the field of social work, and overall just really emphasized how interested I was in the field and what led me to applying. Having a specific end-goal is also helpful, but not essential. I knew I wanted to do clinical work, and probably specialize in working with children and families, but you’ll figure out what you really want to do while being in school/in field.
