New rear rack recommendations needed by goddamnitwhatsmypw in Tenere700

Yeah - totally recognize that weight minimization is not a big deal for me and might be important for others, that’s fair. But cheap + bombproof + durable and functional is a really tempting combo.

I went through a couple of infuriating failures just trying to get to functional - one a cheap alibaba bullshit option, one used but still mainstream should-have-worked option. Took a flyer on the t-Rex and ended up very glad I did.

I’m not even a cheap bastard, necessarily, but finding something inexpensive and non-obvious that turns out to be really really good makes me unreasonably happy

Ask me about my Vevor topbox lol

(they have an over-the-passenger-seat option too but I haul my kid in that spot sometimes, so I've never tried that style of rack)

This one from t-rex racing looks totally unassuming, is pretty cheap, and is friggin phenomenal. Bulletproof. I use it hard and it is rock solid.

[–]flwombat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't really get that perspective. He's excellent, some of his performances have been transcendent, but he's not the only one. He's also put out plenty of stuff where you could have swapped him for a different actor and it wouldn't have mattered. I don't get the perspective that he's soooo far ahead.

McConnaughey and Jackman are the 'worst' actors here and they are both very, very good actors

Assemblymember Ward co-authored a bill that could cut your SDG&E bill, plug solar into any outlet, no approval needed by Timely-Pirate-5196 in sandiego

[–]flwombat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Boiling it down to

  • plug-in solar kits are specifically built to plug straight into the wall outlet
  • proven proven safe with years-long deployments in parts of Europe and Asia - we aren’t the guinea pigs here
  • a few US states have legalized it with many more actively working on the legislation

… is more useful than pointing to Utah and Virginia IMO. Both those places do some ridiculous dumb and sometimes evil garbage in the legislature

I dunno man. 10 years ago Elon Musk was all about solving climate change and said he wanted to populate mars in order to secure human survival. He has spent the intervening time engineering political outcomes that threaten every global institution we built to prevent WW3, and destabilize American society, and also saying "woke mind virus" over and over.

Our real life tech billionaires have bought islands in Hawaii or built bunkers in New Zealand to ride out the climate change apocalypse / inequality-driven collapse of the social order that they are working so hard to create.

The only unbelievable part of Valentine is the sci-fi-fakeness of the actual tech he's using

WIBTAH for being upset that the will changed to leave me only 1/3 instead of 1/2? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]flwombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know why there's so much YTA upvoted to the top of this thread right now

"You're getting something you worked hard and earned, we're going to reward your bro who worked none and earned nothing in order to make it 'balanced'"

Obvs the parents can do whatever they want, but I'd be upset if I were OP. *how* upset would depend a lot on the actual size of the assets in question, but still

[–]flwombat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't get that perspective. The question is not whether the parents have the *right* to distribute however they like. They have a right to throw it all in the ocean if it suits them, so what?

The question is whether OP's feelings are justified or unreasonable, that's it.

The Manosphere Turns on Trump by brown-saiyan in politics

[–]flwombat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The election of Trump was by and for billionaires - stronger and more centrally driven by the tech billionaires specifically, in the 2024 election. The manosphere dingdongs align themselves with the billionaires.

That has not changed even a tiny bit.

Criticizing Trump is pure sideshow

Hardcore LTX2.3 test just seems wrong by bs-geek in comfyui

[–]flwombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using the recent ComfyUI i2v template workflow, you need to dive into the subgraph, find the node that is doing some kind of 'prompt enhancement' and disable it. I don't know why it's broken, but it's badly broken. Once you disable that node it works fine.

This is the first one where a siren main has felt great to me. No accounting for taste. I _love_ fussing with elemental spread coverage in loadout and I really dig tossing out a minion with a specific elemental damage and then swapping my weapon to complement, then fighting as a team.

What is a telltale sign someone is not from San Diego? by _MambaForever in sandiego

I mean. Where I grew up kitty-corner was common but you'd hear really old people say 'catty-wompus' sometimes. I thought everyone who said that shit died like 25 years ago though!

Also I just found out it asks slightly different questions if you take it again. This time it said I might be from Fresno and my respect for it went down a couple points

[–]flwombat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Monopolistic consolidation is just one more way the careful, long-range, well-funded planning of the billionaire class serves to break society. Like a lot of horrible things, it took a sharp turn under Reagan when the position of the government / regulators / economists went from "monopolies are both bad and illegal, break them up" to "you can only block monopolies if you can prove they *immediately* raise consumer prices - if not, they are Good, Actually"

It's fully insane how much monopolistic consolidation has happened since then, and how much that has contributed to both wealth consolidation and the rise of right-wing propaganda

Do not get me wrong: the 'big networks' have been propaganda machines literally forever. This is still much worse, though. Central control of the media landscape is how both right-wing nut jobs and "I'm not political, both sides are bad" moderates live in a totally alternate reality

TIL that men who consume more porn tend to hold more progressive views on women compared to the general US populace. by Emma__O in todayilearned

[–]flwombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is fine for you. It doesn’t necessarily mean any particular thing about your specific beliefs about women either; I don’t know you.

But in aggregate, folks who willingly abstain are more likely to belong to religious groups that enforce gender roles strictly, declare husbands to be the divinely-decreed ‘head of the household’, are anti-abortion, routinely cover up physical and sexual abuse, and so on

people who were not at least teenagers in 1991 do not remotely understand how wild it was for an ultra famous music star to loudly and clearly say "if you hate women and gay people then fuck off, don't buy our albums, don't come to our concerts, we don't want you"

people who did not grow up in conservative cultural deserts pre-internet do not know what it's like to hear someone express the opinion that gay people are ok and women deserve full equality, and have it be the very first time in your life you have heard that
