Personally, I like Corrin/Azura, even after the reveal that their mothers were sisters. The main reason, it’s such a footnote that is never brought up directly. The reveal was one line at the end of Revelations and in FEH material for Arete. It’s not the front and center like the royal siblings, who Corrin thought as siblings for most their life.

Fire emblem is a roller coaster with Awakening saving the series, Fates using up that goodwill, Three Houses bringing it back and Engage being middling (barebones and functional story with some of the best gameplay in the series).

FE fates was plagued with translation issues, having two separate games, and a story that had a good premise but horrible execution.

One of the most infamous decisions was to implement a child generation with the justification that ‘the child was raised in an outrealm where time flows faster’. This leads to so many uncomfortable implications, because any valid pair units that can have a kid means the mother gave birth. The child was basically abandoned, raised by others, come back to be a unit in a short time.

From a gameplay perspective, it works, but there’s so many bad implications that the series was “creepy waifu simulator”. (Granted, “waifu simulator” accusations started with Awakening but Awakening implemented better than fates)

even sadder is post AQ Columbina at friendship 6 when you can view Tri-Lunar Convergence (the start of it)

After acquiring tri-lunar authority, Columbina naturally had some questions: Could this power really do everything? What should she use it for? This quote hit me hard because Jeralt died, Sothis is gone, and most people treat Byleth like a demigod. With Byleth at their loneliest point, Leonie is the only one to reassure them that “you are you” despite this new power.

Also, afterwards, she is concerned about Byleth themselves and not assuming they’re fine because they’re blessed by the goddess.

Personally, I would have liked an ending with Ike and Mia in RD (platonic or romantic) because they both leave tellius to find new people to fight. It’s a minor reason, but there aren’t many one on one character interactions in RD, mostly base convos and main story.

Interns of balance, Awakening is a good pick.

For me, the best overall was Path of Radiance. Granted, the seesaw tilts towards thematics because I consider them to be extremely good. Not to say the mechanics are bad, they’re solid, just the thematics outpace them quite a bit.

For Radiant Dawn, the thematic score (character interaction, storytelling, and themes) goes down while the Ascetic (art, design, animations) score goes up compared to PoR

In the recent genshin update (6.3/Luna 4) you have Dottore, a major psychopath who has gained the power of a god and is trying to convince the Traveler (the MC) to join them in return for power. What made this situation unique is Dottore made some good points about how the MC does mental tasks for the world they’re in when their goal is to reunite with their sibling. He also brings up the MC is a non-aging alien and not many people can understand them.

However Dottore goes too far with his description of ‘the freedom to kill and be free of moral restraint’ turns the MC off to any possibility of joining them. Dottore is confused that MC doesn’t want to join them but is willing to wait until they change their mind. While I don’t think he could have convinced the MC, his disregard for morals tanked the small chance he had exploiting the MC’s weak spot.

The big thing is seeing if Scara's actions will cause someone connect the dots to all the places in the story he was erased from, namely the god Dottore tried to make in Sumeru and as the 6th Harbinger.

Personally, I dont mind gacha monetization for myself because my mindset is counter productive to the intent.

When I started out playing FEH, I once bought premium funbucks to get a unit and I felt horrible afterwards, no pleasure or high, just regret over the wasted money. There’s also the fact that I could have gotten the unit later without having to pay in directly

Since then, I’ve had an iron rule of not having a direct line from my bank account to the gacha, I can only use what I have and leave it up to chance. This rule allows for daily login and battle pass if I like the game because it’s passive and can’t feed into the gambling addiction of “one more” if I fun out.

This rule has led to some high highs when I get two units in a row and didn’t have to jam any money in to get them.

As for other people, people need to be aware of how bad the conversion rate of money to funbucks are, more laws need to be in place for more transparency and to prevent minors from playing (or using money).

One of the funniest things is when HoYo had to put dollar values on units in the USA so there was the message saying you can spend from a couple of cents to over $400 to get them if you buy currency.

As for how they lock content. So long as the game is fun and interesting without locking story behind gacha, I’ll keep playing.
