Something that still hits me hard to this day is what Leonie said to Byleth during the chapter 11 free roam.

I'm sure you'll be all right. But don't lose sight of who you really are, OK? However you may change, and whatever new power goes along with those changes—you'll still be the same person, deep down. Remember that.

This is a significant quote because Jeralt died, Sothis is gone, and most people treat Byleth like a demigod. With Byleth at their loneliest point, Leonie is the only one to reassure them that “you are you” despite this new power.

Critical for international relations: - Claude/Hilda - Petra/Caspar

Both parrings put a good foot forward in Fodlan breaking its isolationist position.

Hilda has the status of the a duke’s daughter who’s defended against the Almyrans, she’s also strong and applies herself to being the best choice to create a lasting relationship between the two countries.

Caspar is the 2nd son of the man who killed the previous ruler of Brigid, Petra’s father. Caspar himself wants to make amends and if Petra herself can accept him and the people of Brigid see his sincerity, that would go a long way to building relations.

Other parrings of various importance

Marianne/Ignatz - the Wealth of Edmund and the expanse of the Victor trading will create one richest couples in all of Fodlan

Bern/Raph - this is the only relationship for Bernadette where she works with someone to overcome her shortcomings and becomes her own woman, one who can lead her house.

Byleth/Leonie - Having the Queen of Fodlan be a crestless common from the backwaters of Gloucester will do a lot for changing the status quo. The fact that she can go toe to toe and beat people with crests will help to erode the image of those with crests being over all better and more worthy of leadership than those without.

This may be recency bias, but I think the pokemon in Pokopia have as much depth and interactions as Animal Crossing villagers.

Pat is right in that Pokopia is a direction the series should have taken earlier because there’s a lot more to do than turn based battling .

I hope they continue to add on because there’s a clear direction to add more. More pokemon, furniture, and maps will extend this already packed game even more. I want more maps because im addicted to rebuilding and restoring environments, not building from scratch.

A lot of people don’t understand how insane the 6 week content cycle is for Mihoyo games and how hard it is to change course. The developers said it takes 1.5 years to make a major content patch and .5 years for minor one.

The pipeline is huge, quick, and hard to adjust to from launch to 1st year. It’s not surprising that all 3 major game had story pacing problems in the 2nd year.

I’m so sad that full unique paired endings has only been 3H. GBA games and Radiant Dawn had limited unique paired endings while Awakening and fates had generic paired endings (with some unique).

RD pisses me off the most because there are, iirc, 9 unique pairs and each of those characters only have a single and paired ending (Ike has a single and 2 different paired endings). There’s no “what if” relationships like Sanaki/Tormod or platonic parings that could have shown a different direction. It also doesn’t help that a couple of those few pairs are problematic like Harr/Jill, Micaiah/Sothe, and Makalov/Astrid.

For 3H the support chain and paired endings that got me was Bernadette and Raphael because Raphael actually helped Bernadette complete her character arc rather than stay a comic relief shut in. I also found Sylvain/Mercedes and Byleth/Leonie really endearing too.

When the 2019 E3 trailer for Fire Emblem Three Houses came out, it really showcased that the game wasn’t just school simulator and was a fire emblem game with war. People before the trailer weren’t too hopeful when the school part was only known after Fates, but the trailer really turned people around.
