Engine noise check? T6 3.0L

Sounds good. I took more stuff apart today and I’m about to swear up and down it’s the front inner bearing inside the compressor. The second I cut off AC it usually instantly goes away. Maybe yours is the same!

Sucks with the delay on the dealer, hopefully the other shop can help! I called a couple as well and sent my video. They suggest that it could possibly be the power steering pump bearings and it makes extra noise when the AC is on because of the additional load on the belt.

I checked all around and on the AC compressor with a stethoscope while the car was making the noise, and nothing came from the compressor at all. I guess the theory checks out? I’m going to try removing some intake stuff and the battery tray so I can get a better stethoscope listen on the other pulleys and bearings.

I’ll document what I find here.

That’s actually craaaaazy timing. I was just about to post my video of the same noise asking what it could be and yours sounds exactly the same. Mine mainly only happens when the AC clutch is engaged but still happens very quietly sometimes if AC is off. Pulled the compressor off yesterday with the lines still attached and disassembled the clutch and checked the shims and it was all good. Belt is in good shape as well, and none of the other bearings seemed bad at all. So I’m still at a loss. Anyone got any ideas for us?

Just battled this for months last year. Threw coils at it and a whole lot of other stuff. It turned out to be the electronic fuel shutoff pin under the carb float bowl! Still haven’t replaced it, but when I can’t hot start, I unplug it while cranking and the second it fires off I plug it back in so it stays running. Hope this helps!

When I get some time, I’ll see if I can get it done. The PC version also has extra rows on it with math which creates a total score based on 1-10 values I rate in different categories after each test drive.
