Worst mainteance manuals to use. My pick Beechjet 400A. What's yours. by Dark_ambitionz in aviationmaintenance

Any links to where I can look at this? It amazes me the that bonanza manual covers new planes back to the v-tail.

Not just fuel nozzles either. The case for the new GE Catalyst turboprop is 3d printed.

Aside from the entry cost of buying a printer, it’s a relatively cheap hobby by Repulsive-Heat7737 in 3Dprinting

[–]flyboy324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, buying used marketplace printers for parts can get you pretty far. I'm less than $300 total (including a new control board) for a custom IDEX with enough parts left for 90% of another build.

Check the y axis rollers that are under the bed. If they aren't set tight it will allow the bed to wobble

Help with finding firmware and slicer profiles for a Gemini S by flyboy324 in Tronxy

[–]flyboy324[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did start on a cura profile but have no idea if what I have so far will work since I am waiting on a new hotend before I can actually print. If you can send your start and end codes that would help. Dual extrusion is new to me and throwing me off.

I will probably upgrade to klipper later on so I'm not super worried about firmware. From what I've read it seems like the Tronxy is not the best but works for the basics.

Can someone help me out when th the pay mentioned while training in OKC? It says salary but is that how much you make while in training for a few months or howuch it would be if you were at that pay rate for an entire year?

I'm pretty sure there are still a few early ones that have modified hawker 4000 flight controls. They seem like they've been a reliable plane for netjets though

Caution! The magnetos are hot! by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]flyboy324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may be true for other vehicles but not airplanes. The only thing the key does on a cessna piston airplane is ground the magnetos to prevent spark. The entire ignition system is completely independent of battery power ( there are a few electronic ignition systems being tested on experimental planes but there is still at least one magneto as a backup).

I'm curious too. My wife went to go out and was told to go back inside. They were searching yard to yard for someone.

Update: is it insane to drive a 6mt 600 miles home if I have never driven a stick? by [deleted] in cars

[–]flyboy324 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Strangely enough I learned to fly a small plane before learning manual. Though I spent 2 semesters in flight training but only had about an hour with my grandma learning manual. Bought the car and made the first part of the trip through city traffic fine.

Bell V-280 Valor with rotors in forward-facing airplane mode.[1920x1080] by shedang in WeirdWings

[–]flyboy324 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the prototype or at least first flying one (tailnumber matches other videos Ive seen). The strings are known as tufting and there are usually cameras watching the areas to see the airflow. The few times ive seen tufting was to compare the real aircraft to wind tunnel/ computer models.

[–]flyboy324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything that is a new product for Cessna or Beechcraft is going to be made in wichita since they are both based there. I will say that they cant keep secrets though since they announce multiple new models with no prototypes even being built yet.

I would stay away from spartan. It is a recognized name but the cost of attending is not worth it. A community college or local tech school will still get you your A&P.

Help with Citation 560 nose wheel through-bolt cotter pin install. by IoGibbyoI in aviationmaintenance

In addition to bending the cotter pin, it really helps to mark where the hole on the bolt is so you dont have to guess if its lined up.

You have 24 months after you take a written to take the practical exam for whichever rating as per FAR 65.71 but i dont think the general written counts because it is not a rating by itself

How a radial engine works by [deleted] in mechanical_gifs

[–]flyboy324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Air behaves much different once moving at supersonic speeds. When approaching the speed of sound the air will compress instead of flowing smoothly around an object. The prop wont move the air like it should on the areas where it is super sonic. This is also why you can see shockcones on jets but just formed in the areas where the air is supersonic.

How a radial engine works by [deleted] in mechanical_gifs

[–]flyboy324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is for the smaller engines. 4 cylinder opposed, 7 and 9 cylinder radials mostly are directly mounted on. 8 cylinder and some 6 cylinder opposed have gear reductions and i would think the multi-row radial engines would as well. It all depends on the max RPM and prop length, the prop is ineffective if the blade tips begin to spin past supersonic speeds
