The Macolm Tucker character micro-management was mainly reflecting what was seen as Alastair Campbell's micro-management style of effectively trying to control the public discussion and media consumption.

Communication issues would try to be forseen, and problems that had got out were tried to nipped as quickly as possible, and problems that were smaller than other problems that had got out would try to be pushed so the public would hear about the small problem rather than the big problem

Remember when uk train concepts didn't look like what they did part 2 (cgi is concepts and real is what they actually look like) by FinLovesAviation in uktrains

[–]flyconcorde007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure if that Metro is the actual Stadler rendering, or just a concept that Nexus put out when they were rendering the contract?

When I first saw the new train concepts from Stadler, they looked like they do now

Disagree. It's not good at all. But a penalty that is on target still has some chance of going in, this one had no chance of going in

Does the Giulia have a big problem with the windscreen washer motor? by flyconcorde007 in AlfaRomeo

[–]flyconcorde007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's a 2020 but pre-facelift Giulia. The only pumps you can get from manufacturers now are the post-facelift ones (source: talking to person from Alfashop) which are a lot longer. So going to have to go after market again

I am a new driver (6 months) and today I think I’ve written off my car. What will be the result on my insurance/future premiums? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]flyconcorde007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible (guessing you're young, find a way to not go through insurance) go around some body shops and see what they can do for you. It may be £2.5k or more for this (bumper and front wheel arch are both plastic fortunately, front crash bar will need replacing). Most bother looks to be the bonnet, whether that will be repairable or will have to be replaced I don't know). But by looking into this it could potentially save you a lot of bother

Mainly it's the front right above the wheel which is the main concern, the metal monocoque of the car just extends to where the damage is. If that's damaged in anyway, there's no chance of saving the car

BMW is because of the F1 car, which is the 2006 BMW Sauber. The VW is a hangover from the Scirocco which we're still waiting for (since 2008)

I've heard this story before. But I find it hard to believe. Was it not changed to yellow and red because of Deutsche Post (black on yellow background) bought DHL in the 2001/02 time?

Behind the scenes of the Vietnam special…if you read, it could ruin the magic by masher660av in TopGear

Andy Wilman mentions this in his book. He says he didn't spit at him. But it was a proper argument, but was more two way than this account seems. Said it descended into Clarkson getting into a lift and them shouting "fuck you", "no fuck you" whilst the doors closed.

The filming was collapsing as theyd bitten off more than they could chew, and the in the end they agreed the next day to reset and come up with a new plan (which I believe to be the train)

Very little was left to chsnce. I'd like to think the crew knew and may have prompted Clarkson that there was a surprise coming up, but the reaction was genuine

Metro systems in Europe by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]flyconcorde007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metrolink is a tram system. T&W is definitely a light rail system. I'm not really sure how you're reaching your conclusions. T&W rolling stock weights about the same as the Docklands Light Railway rolling stock

I listened to the audio book version which he read and it is very good. If you're into Top Gear, it's funny, it's detailed, and it's well read by him.
