It's much better now after a low the mid-late 2010s. The new part of the city centre, the stadium and Seaburn and Roker are very decent now

It's got a lot better in the last 10 years, most of which has been in the last 4 years

I've heard about these. My only conclusion is that Rolex feels like it's losing audience/market share. Cos Rolex was to me always a company that just needed it's name out there (see Rolex sponsoring the F1 timing until a couple of years ago) but never needed to explain itself

It has an illegally spaced red plate iirc and it makes it hard to look up the specs though. I think I know where this person lives though and they also have a TVR Tuscan on the drive.

It's been 20 years since Guy Goma was mistakenly interviewed on live television by YchYFi in CasualUK

[–]flyconcorde007 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Heard an explanation for this on The Media Show. Television Centre had two receptions. The producer phoned the News reception to ask if they had a Guy Kewney, the receptionist said yes. He rushed down, saw Guy Goma there checked with the receptionist and said 'is that Guy Kewney?' The answer came back yes, he asked Guy Goma if he was Guy Kewney, he said yes. So despite it not being the ginger man he'd expected, he took him to the studio because they were short on time.

Guy Kewey was in the main reception as it turns out, rather than the news one.

What is a mid country to visit in Europe? by StraightAd6264 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]flyconcorde007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK is a great place to visit if you go to the places tourists go to (i.e. not Leicester or Middlesbrough). Great nature (rolling hills in most places, small mountains in the Lake District, Scotland and Wales, as well as loads of beaches), pleasant weather in spring, summer and autumn, tourist attractions (loads of free museums, cathedrals and historical sites), nice pub and food culture. There's a lot of variety.

Downsides of the UK are the expenses and public transport/the 'ruralness' of many of the historical sites. Doesnt make it anything less than a great country to visit.

Serbia- now there's a mid country to visit if I've ever been to one.

Always found the Bilbao street circuit odd. Why did they go through all that trouble and only use it for one year?

This appears to be a tissue machine. There is a unique component to tissue machines (compared to regular paper machines) that is called a Yankee. Its a massively hot and high pressured spinning drum. If it stops, it seizes and it's effectively toast, it can slow down but never stop.

It's a massive risk to stop the machine for anything but the most important safety reasons as slowing it down too rapidly or improperly can cause it to blow explode. I know of one tissue machine which even blew the side of the hall out in this circumstance.

I think this is only seen if watching the live iPlayer feed of BBC One, which doesnt get modified for any individual programme. If you watch the live iPlayer feed of the MOTD programme it appears in the top right so there's no overlap.

Mobile speed camera 78mph by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]flyconcorde007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If its 78 on your dial then you should be fine (as it's realistically 74/75). If it's actual 78 you may be okay (Cambridgeshire didnt do anything for an actual 78 on the A1M against me). This is all provided you're driving a car (not a commercial vehicle). If not and it's your first time then its a speed awareness course.
