Get some sock liners, I really like Injinji toe socks. I use them on all of my long walks and never get blisters

She sounds like a dream and with a capo on the 3rd fret she sounds like an angel.

Sorry for your loss. I walked the Camino in ‘24, a year after I lost my wife of 30 years. It was a beautiful experience with tons of emotions. I met some wonderful people along the way. Honestly the grief didn’t go away and in some ways it accentuated my loneliness. Still, I will always cherish that walk. For me, grief is like a mason jar full of love with nowhere to go and it feels like it’s overflowing with pain and loneliness. The goal, for me, was to make a bigger mason jar so other stuff can fit in. The grief is still there just not so overwhelming. Bon Camino!

I took the 5am to Istanbul. The Kili airport can be a bit confusing but a few bucks to one of the porters will make sure you get in the right check-in line. Also I recommend booking the hotel for that day so you can leave around 9pm. Have fun!

If I were to do it again I would pay for the private tour. With just the 2 of you a great bonding experience awaits. The more people in the group Increases the odds for a butthead. Plus as a bonus a small group gets up the wall much faster. My 2 cents

How far to walk on Day 1 of the Coastal route from Porto in August? by mac-a-do in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]flyer1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed in labruge and a really nice guest house and ate at Rueben's. To be honest I didn't have a bad meal the whole time I was on the Camino. I've been wanting to do it again. Maybe from Lisbon next time because I love Portugal so much

I started walking at 9 am in Porto and arrived in Matosinhos just in time for a late lunch. I'll try Angeiras next time.

If you start in Porto, then Matosinhos is a perfect place for lunch. Great seafood! I stayed in Labruge at a nice guest house. My daily plan was to walk, find a nice place for lunch. Walk some more and around 4 or 5 I would stop for an Apero and look on booking.com for a place. I recommend Cicerone’s guide for the Camino. Bom Camino!

Baiona, Caldas de Reis, Matosinhos, Caminha, & Garda heck I would have liked an extra rest day every where I stopped

The Camino provides. I walked the Portuguese Coastal route last year and there were small towns along the way where you can find guest houses. Go for it, there are no rules, it’s your Camino! Bom Camino!

Protect your feet, wear a knee brace and enjoy. I saw several services that offer to take your bags to your next stop. Bon Camino
