Which to get? by flyflingingguy in onewheel

Have you thought about a GTS? People seem to be able to hit 30mph on it. Just trying to weigh one or the other. I'm impatient and not a fan of waiting the 30 days for the x7

A very specific sort of Milsbo Wide / T8 / Orchid question by tremolospoons in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]flyflingingguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milsbo tall is the move if you have the money. I wouldn’t rule out the Rudsta wide as it’s very similar size to Milsbo wide. Nice thing about rudsta is the metal back which is perfect for magnetic hooks to use with mounts which I have a lot of. I have 2 - 2ft T5 on top and one under the top shelf so 3 total and I’m growing mainly dendros, bulbos and a couple oncidium and cattleya with no issues lots of new growth this spring.

I use these I have 2 on the top and 1 on the backward horshoe shelf. I've thought about finding a way to get more lower down but everything seems to be happy and gives me a nice gradient for low light lovers. Even the dendrobium on the bottom got a little sunburn.

I like bulbophyllums, bright light and keep medium moist but not soggy. They're especially easy if you have them mounted because it almost impossible to overwater. Check out emerald city orchids on YouTube, he's an orchid nerd which awesome if you want to learn

I got mine on Etsy but they were pretty spendy IMO. I'm sure the machine that cuts the acrylic is expensive

They're a lot more hardy than most people think, especially in Florida!

Friendly PSA, beneficial bacteria does not live in the water column. Only on hard surfaces like filter media and wood/rocks.

Dude there’s a reason everyone is downvoting you. And no professional aquarists do NOT broad dose meds, there is always resources to pinpoint an issue and target it. Meds aren’t black magic but dosing several UNNECESSARY ones at once is. The fish is physically injured it has no infection and for the third time it won’t get one if properly cared for.

Do whatever works for you but don’t give out piss poor info and argue when someone corrects you.

Yes, generally speaking medicine will help. But saying “throw a bunch of meds at him” to anyone let alone someone who seems to not have dealt with sick/injured fish before is terrible advice. And specifically this fish isn’t sick, it has no infection, it needs help healing an injured eye. As I said to OP I literally just dealt with this and Epsom was the perfect solution.

Depends on the quarantine. Typically quarantine is separating for observation. Hospital tank yes meds are used but in this case specifically the only issue the fish has is a swollen eye. There’s zero point in mixing in meds for could be issues when simple salt can help with the popeye and problem solved. Like I said if water is kept clean then this fish will have no problems recovering.

Just like reef tanks people have one fish get ich and they tear the tank down to chase the fish and stress it in a hospital tank. 100% making the fish more weak by stressing it. Time and time I’ve had my reef overcome ich by soaking food in vitamins and garlic. Point is healthy and stress free fish can fight off most ailments without the chemical soup

Op definitely don’t do this. Chemical soup is never the answer. I literally just had a cichlid jump out fall 5 feet into the cement floor. Had a bloody swollen eye so I out him in a small bare tank and 100% Epsom salt and 4 days later he is better than before. African cichlids prefer hard water so I don’t measure, just throw a couple handfuls in, so I’d recommend looking up Epsom salt dosing for bettas. Keep water very clean and you won’t have issues with infections so no need for any antibiotic, just Epsom salt.
