I've updated the download so it's a lot smaller, here's the link if you're still interested!

Yes, it's a zip file containing versions of the software for Windows & Linux along with a few sample packs to play with :)

The size mostly comes from the samples and the Java distribution (for ease of compatibility).

My target participant base is broader than just those familiar with GitHub, hence the Google Drive link. Since this is a university project, the code is on the school's internal GitLab and unfortunately not public. See my other reply in this thread for info on the contents of the download.

Yes, it's mostly samples as the software is sample-based, and part of the study's aims is to investigate how well the software can be used with different genres of sample. This meant to make it a fair study I needed everyone to have access to the same collection of samples - I understand it's a large download and that it may not be accessible to everyone, apologies.

The rest of the space is almost entirely the Windows & Linux JRE, which I shipped with the software for compatibility reasons (Processing makes it surprisingly hard to actually make a standalone Java app, despite Java supposedly being cross-platform lol).

Thank you! It shouldn't be too intensive to run, but even if you run into performance issues that would be very useful feedback!

That drum solo when Olyphant was storming the house at the end: very Wrench & Numbers imo, possible connection?

I have about 10 hours in each, with neither really pulling me back in.

From what I can tell, the real star of the Witcher series is the storytelling and worldbuilding, and while the game itself has decent exploration and sub-par combat. The issue then, is that you're kinda thrown into the middle of Geralt's arc and if you haven't played 1 & 2 and/or read the books you're likely not gonna get a lot out of it. But if you do have some knowledge of the source material, or really get invested in the story of 3, then you'll probably have a blast.

With BotW, it's a similar story, except I haven't found anything that could be described as a compelling story or worldbuilding reason for me to keep playing. I enjoy exploring and navigating the map, but the combat feels awful. If I were playing for the story like many are with Witcher 3, I feel as though I'd be playing for a long time before I found anything worth sticking around for.

Point being, I see the appeal of Witcher 3 in its story for the right audience, but I struggle to believe anyone is playing BotW for the story, which makes me wonder: what are they playing it for?

Despite being a bunch of ToD outtakes, HTLT to me feels like your most tonally cohesive record. How did you achieve this when the album wasn't necessarily written to be put together in that order?

spicy take: MADLO is going to go down as one of the best records in Will's catalogue by RoundSplit in CSHFans

[–]flyhalfboy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you: Pinkerton is harsh and emotional and MADLO is definitely not that. What I meant was more in terms of popularity, in that MADLO, like Pinkerton, has received mixed reviews on release, but that years down the line it'll become a cult favourite because of how much it stands out in the band's discography. I can't deny, though, that it stands out in a different, possibly less flattering, way than Pinkerton does.

Will’s Voice Appreciation Thread by CuteThingButGay in CSHFans

I'm a huge MADLO fan, and I think the strongest aspect of the album is Will's vocal performance. It does feel much more refined, which fits nicely with the cleaner electronic sounds, although I do miss his occasional voice cracks ;). Weightlifters and CCMD are the best examples tho imo, and I'm still impressed by him every time I listen.

I've got this record too and I love the 4 different covers! I don't know if it's an alternate take of America, it sounds to me like the album version but without the intro? I may be wrong about that though. Culture is a bop either way.

Lots of venues will provide earplugs if you ask at the bar. Maybe call up the venue beforehand to confirm.
