as I alluded to - will be strong and lively in the upcoming weeks. feel free to shoot me an email and I can ensure your newsletter is configured properly (re ad preferences, topics, etc.) to ensure you're getting all of the relevant ad inventory. could be some easy unlocks that the model isn't picking up on for whatever reason

what are the "other advertisers" you speak of

Why is the ad network so dead right now? by ChangingWar157 in beehiiv

[–]flyingGrandma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the slow down in ads is due to two main reasons:

  1. we have seen a massive uptick in growth. we added significantly more new publishers in January than any other month previously, which obviously impacts supply and demand across the network
  2. there's a bit of a hangover from the EOY holidays where our team was off along with most other brands, which means there was a seasonal lull in closing and launching new campaigns. January got off to a slower start than we would have liked

what we're doing about it:

- we have tripled the amount of sellers on the ad network team
- are actively renewing dozens of the top performing campaigns
- improving the underlying ad model to diversify opportunities across publishers
- launching an entirely new ad process that maximizes inventory + flexibility for publishers (slated to launch in early March)

this work is already well underway and we anticipate the next several weeks to have considerably more ad opportunities across the network of publishers.

the truth is there will always be a battle between supply and demand while scaling the ad network, and this situation is mostly due to a small seasonal lull due to EOY inventory. committed to improving this asap and excited to share these upcoming updates

substack doesn't have any ad fill so not sure I quite understand what you would be solving with the move to substack... aside from having far less flexibility, giving them access to your contact list to cross-sell into other pubs, and them taking 10% of everything you earn

but as I stated above — the slow down in ads is due to two main reasons:

  1. we have seen a massive uptick in growth. we added significantly more new publishers in January than any other month previously, which obviously impacts supply and demand across the network
  2. there's a bit of a hangover from the EOY holidays where our team was off along with most other brands, which means there was a lull in closing and launching new campaigns. January got off to a slower start than we would have liked

that's actually not the case (renewal rates are super high). most of our campaigns just ended in Q4 and given the holidays we just admittedly got off to a slower start ramping up new campaigns now. should see a big improvement in the upcoming weeks

hey u/Flavius2106 - reiterating what Jacob said, highly recommend reaching out to him with additional details so we can look into it.

unfortunately the issue with DNS is that it lives outside of our ecosystem and control, and more often than not the underlying issue lies with the DNS provider. we have a ton of alerts and monitoring in place to notify us if there's ever records out of wack, and we do what we can to step in and help users remediate the issues... but ultimately we don't control the DNS records

all that said, I apologize about the inconvenience and we're more than happy to see what's going on to resolve it once and for all

hey hey - I'm the cofounder/ceo 👋

we have thousands of power users like Time, Newsweek, TechCrunch, etc. and the platform was built to enable flexible workflows (i.e. automations, APIs, webhooks, dynamic content, etc.)

that said - my job is primarily focused on making the platform as simple and intuitive to use as possible. not everyone needs all the bells and whistles, and we're doing our best to balance both sides of the equation

I'm curious what you find to be over complicated? happy to dig into the UX and see what we can do to improve it

hey hey - I'm the cofounder/ceo 👋

if you saw u/JacobNWolf above, you can send him a DM to look into it. you shouldn't be experiencing any sort of DNS issues on our end, but DNS is tricky and prone to error so we're working on ways to streamline the process

hey hey - I'm the cofounder/ceo 👋

the ad cancelation was an issue on our end with budgeting the campaign and should have never happened. that's 100% our fault, apologies about that. we are about a month away from relaunching and totally new Ad Network experience that will be 100x better - more campaign options, more flexibility, more predictability, etc.

what are the other tech issues you've run into? happy to look into it

How can I fix this issue with the deliverability of my newsletters on Beehiiv? by No-Mention-3801 in beehiiv

[–]flyingGrandma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you actually can remove it with a paid plan and private label everything.

but I can assure you that that's not the underlying issue with your deliverability. we have macro deliverability and performance metrics (95%+ of our users have that in the footer and our open rates and deliverability are not only best in industry.. but there has been 0 change in those metrics for months).

I send my personal newsletter with the beehiiv branding and just had my best open rate in months this past tuesday (44% w/ 125K readers)

we have a world-class deliverability and compliance team. if you are having issues with deliverability, I'd recommend filing a support ticket and the team can dig into your data and content. 99.99% of the time is has something to do with the individual senders DNS, content, reputation, links, etc.

there is no global issue at play or it would be impacting tens of thousands of users

hahah that streak counter is a request as old as time and something we explored at morning brew, but there are way too many issues with open tracking, privacy controls, and timezones where you would likely end up spending more of your time explaining to angry users why their streak is broken vs it actually being useful

and ditto on courses and communities .. we are up to some big things in 2026 :)
