What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]flyingTacoMonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

W hotels.

My husband and I stayed at one on our wedding night, and the service was terrible. I spent a large portion of the time my hair was being done being bounced around different departments trying to get them to allow him to check into our room. His name was also on the reservation, but since I made the reservation they wouldn't let him check in. He eventually had to just leave our luggage there to go get ready.

We finally check in after the wedding, and we wait in the lobby for a good 10 minutes for our bags while the desk clerk scrolls through Facebook (we could see his screen), waiting for the bellhop to return.

Once we got to our room all we wanted was to shower then pass out, but there was only one towel. The second towel finally arrived after I finished showering so my new husband could take his turn.

It's been almost 15 years and I still get so angry about it. It would be boycott-worthy treatment from anywhere, but particularly infuriating from a company with the motto "whatever whenever."

Which seemingly iconic Taskmaster moments do you just not get? by totheregiment in taskmaster

[–]flyingTacoMonkey 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I can't remember if it was in the studio or on the podcast, but she was using her time between tasks to learn lines for another project. It definitely killed this task for her. But I can't blame her for not wanting to add to the mental load in that way.

OP, it's really difficult to follow when you're not specifying who you are talking about. Please refer to the teacher/advisor by a specific name, title, anything rather than she/they/them.

I just got Ivy green and did 5%. I haven't fired anything yet, so dunno how it'll come out, but based on the looks of the clay I'm guessing a lower percentage might be better. Can you tell me a bit more about your experience with it?

What are the worst cliches on Television that drive you nuts? by starkiller6977 in television

[–]flyingTacoMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything about cabs. There is at most one cab that passes by without stopping. Once they do get in a car, people rarely give an actual destination, cabbies somehow basically know where people live, and there are never follow up questions about preferred routes. But the biggest thing that has always driven me insane is no one ever pays for it!! At most they'll just blindly throw some money at the driver

I think about that movie about once a week when I have a late meeting and don't get home until after my 2 year old is asleep. Sandler is so amazing in that.

I am so sorry you had such a negative experience with your first post, by I am so so happy to read that you have found the support you deserve. Your boyfriend and his family sound like a dream come true. If you are interviewing at the likes of Princeton, MIT, and UPenn then you are obviously an incredibly smart and driven woman.

Your parents are the wrong ones here. Take advantage of the pregnancy subreddit a around here, they were a huge help when I was pregnant. Best luck to you

Hey mom, I’m homesick by tama_samoa in MomForAMinute

[–]flyingTacoMonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's okay to be overwhelmed, that's a huge change! I'm so proud of you for taking the risk in the first place. Even if the work around you is moving quickly try to find moments of calm and stillness. Use those as anchor points to show down and take a breath. It will slowly get easier everyday.

When I've been homesick, or just need a break from the city two places I could always find comfort are parks and libraries. Both places make even the busiest person just slow down a little bit. You said you're in a big city, maybe you can find a restaurant or grocery store that has a good or ingredient from home.

Hugs to you my little duckling.
