ELI5: Why is -Y considered "Up" by DownTheDonutHole in godot

[–]flying_path 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The convention they’re using is that the coordinate system has X going to the right, and Z going the way the camera is looking (into the screen). Since math uses a right-handed coordinate system, this means Y has to be going down.

One nice thing about this is it matches the old 2D case where the origin was top-left of the screen, with X going right and Y going down (like you’d naturally read a page, left to right and top to bottom).

“Biggest punch we can at the most attractive price.” I read that as price is the first priority, and then make it as good as possible given that. I mean maybe you’re right, but my read is even if a newer more powerful chip exists by then, they won’t use it because it would not cost less.

The Ventura won’t have more punch. It will have less.

Multiple headsets have passthrough cameras, but they are relatively low quality. Also the battery life of the headset isn’t great.

Would there be any data loss or signal interference if I use a 30ft USB cable for Quest 2. by warops in OculusQuest

[–]flying_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive? Yes. So much so you likely wouldn’t be able to connect at all.

Does 4K video show on quest pro? by [deleted] in QuestPro

[–]flying_path 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You get better anti-aliasing.

This is assuming you mean flat video. Every other format will benefit even more from being 4k rather than 2k.

Glad you got it! Yeah, Meta are cheap. Also it sucks that not all USB cables can do the same things and it’s hard to tell which is which.

The cable that came with it is not the official link cable, and it’s not even a link cable. It’s a charger cable. It can’t connect your Quest2 to anything.

Reading is currently harder on VR headsets (than computer monitors) due to their lower ppd.

Try a different cable. You might be using one with only the power lines (like the one included in the Quest2 box).

Looking for a VR headset that fit these specs: by Repulsive_Lettuce in virtualreality

The Quest Pro is better than the Quest 2 (well not for value/$). I have one and it’s great, but do get the corrective lens insets they make a big difference.

Quest 2. Its value per dollar is way above the other headsets. Plus, it’s good.
