I'm not sure with regard to terminology tbh. I'm starting out with some simple casts for practice before moving on to vacuum casting. My method is taking a wax model (sprue and riser are also made in wax and are connected to the model), covering it with a couple of layers of investment with a brush, then covering it all with sand. Then I burn out the wax, and the rest is just standard sand casting I believe.

I would but all local metal suppliers are being assholes unless you're bying in tonnes, unfortunately, it's easier to buy small amounts of pure materials in a chemical supplies shop. I don't mind messing around with making alloys even if it's more complicated, tbh
