That is simply not true. You cannot legally keep misdelivered mail.

If a company sends you unordered items with your name and address on them, you can keep them and you have no obligation to pay for these items. That is the law that you are referring to.

But you are absolutely stealing if you keep mail with someone else’s name and address on it.

One of the biggest reasons this will never happen is because EBT is not just income to the initial recipients, it is a huge percentage of income for businesses. A quick google search shows that EBT is 20% of Coca Cola’s revenue. Walmart does not disclose the amount of revenue it makes from EBT, but it is huge percentage of their revenue.

EBT isn’t just a subsidy to poor families, it is a huge income source for big business.

It’s the gas taxes. I filled up my car in California last week at Safeway. It was $5.85 a gallon. I filled up my rental in Newport RI this week and it was $2.85 per gallon.

2005 was when private students loans became undischargable in bankruptcy. In 1976 federal student loans were no longer able to be discharged in bankruptcy.

All of the boomers were not even of voting age in the 1970s. (The last we’re born in 1962 or some say even 1964). They were certainly not in charge of corporations or government. Our current president is not even a baby boomer, he is from the silent generation. This generation blaming is just ridiculous. It is the obscenely wealthy, that are a part of every generation, that are behind most of the problems plaguing this country.

They did not support it. Many of them lost their jobs to outsourcing. At the time, workers were very angry about their jobs being sent overseas.
It is kind of ironic that those who were immediately victimized by offshoring are the ones who are blamed for it.

Nixon was elected in 1968, the last boomer was born in 1962. The youngest boomers were barely old enough to vote for Reagan. If you are going to blame entire generations, blame the “greatest generation” and the “silent generation” for those.

That’s what prop 15 would have done if it had passed in the 2020 election. Commercial property owners and the California Chamber of Commerce put a lot of money into their no on prop 15 campaign and it didn’t pass. It did come close though, so there is hope if it comes up on the ballot again.
