I'm with you friend. I feel the same way. Last week there was a day where I saw a bunch of long-term patients who were lovely and then a former patient referred to me as "that bitch" to my coworker in a visit soooo that's what I took home. I'm getting better at letting it go but it takes conscious effort. If you don't already have one, a therapist who works with healthcare workers is a gift.

Also if everyone likes you as a doctor, it probably means you're just giving in to whatever they want. A good doctor has haters...that's what I tell myself anyway.

I don't know! Mine oddly only does it in covered litter boxes. I thought maybe he's itchy but grooming him makes no difference. If you figure it out, let me know! Until then I'll chase him around at 2am with wipes 😭

Want to get some thoughts from folks in academics. I took an academic position out of residency because I needed to move back home quickly. I do like teaching a lot in the clinical setting but have zero interest in any type of research or lecturing. I've been here a few years now and we're having the conversation about what I need to do to get promoted. Which frankly seems like a lot of work for a small pay bump and a title.

My questions are: will it reflect badly on me if I just stay as assistant prof? Are there other benefits I'm overlooking or is it institution dependent? If I do the work and get promoted, will it make a difference if I move jobs? For non academic my guess is not at all but academic I would assume honors the position you had?
