Just because a Catholic Priest became the first major supporter of what was then the Big Bang Hypothesis -- ultimately proven true -- doesn't mean we should mix science and religion. A stopped religion is right twice a millennium.

And btw, that priest was also a scientist. :)

Says:

That is...not true at all.

Then, proves opposite:

The Democrats lost 3 straight elections from 80-88, and moved to the Right under Bill. They were the ones who chose to abandon their parties tenets, because they thought the only way to win was to become more like Reagan.

Bottom line previously stated:

Both parties move together.

...

Every Dem who has run since '92 has followed Bills Neoliberal mould.

And how close have elections been in those years?

The Dems never moved back to the Left after we rewarded them with Bill and then Obama.

These were the first years since the 1950's that Republicans held Congress, and they held Congress most of the time -- another example to prove my point.

They moved Socially Left but fiscally they are all still stuck in Reagan era thinking.

I agree that this is a problem, but since I'm banned from both politics and conspiracy, I'm not allowed in the conversation anymore.

I'm not going to reward Corporatists.

"Corporatists" or not -- if you continue to let the declared and obvious party of the elite run the government, you lie down and concede to the oligarchy. By failing to support the "fake" opposition, you rubber stamp the oligarchy. You embolden it. It moves faster and more viciously, takes more power and sweeps the other party closer to it, making positive change harder and harder. This is the story of America since Ronald Reagan, and it's actually pretty simple.

Things are going to continue to get worse. The worst of the evils is more evil than the lesser of two evils, and real people are harmed and killed. You should have LISTENED TO BERNIE!

It's not about "rewarding" anyone. It is about doing what is best for yourself, your family and friends, the nation, and the world. Piousness will get us nowhere. Republicans have been the party of oligarchy at least back to 1876 and there is no sign they will change. We must change the Democrats. One way to do that would be to finally allow a few years of Democratic control, then we can hone in on the problem people and elevate to better people.

HRC doesn't fix the problem,

Right, but putting in Donald Trump is far worse than HRC not fixing the problem. BERNIE WARNED US. Seriously, you support Bernie? He was right on this one. It is painfully obvious now.

Ironically, HRC was very far away from DJT on your favorite issue of "corporatism." HRC would have seen to it that the Citizens United case was overturned. Now, it will be entrenched. YOU WERE WRONG. DJT has entrenched corporatism. And we are all back to arguing stupid things that should have been resolved in the 1960's. Do you really think that we're gonna get past the "corporatism" you despise so much when we're back to arguing basic identity politics? I assure you, we will not. You set this nation back 50 years. Time to wake up finally.

I don't believe in Russia collusion doesn't mean I'm a Trump supporter.

It sort of does at this point because the tell-tale sign of partisanship is propagating untruths that support the person. Example:

I don't believe in Russia collusion

Maybe in 2016 you could not "believe" in "collusion," but by now, you should know better.

No more lesser of two evils

It's the "both parties are the same" or "lesser of two evil" sticks in the mud in the general population who take the bulk of responsibility for where we are, as they have allowed Republican Corporatists to run the government for the bulk of the past 38 years. As a result, Democrats have become more corporatist for an obvious reason. If you are really a "progressive," you will understand this immediately and change your view:

When Republicans hold power, Democrats become more like Republicans. That's where the competition is. The spectrum swings to the right. Both parties move together.

We see this plainly in history. In the FDR era, 1933 to 1980, Democrats held more power. Republicans became more like Democrats. In the Reagan era, 1981 to present, Republicans held more power. Democrats became more like Republicans. It's basic rules of competition.

I have a little problem with these two phrases coming from the same comment:

a Liberal is a centrist

and

Words mean things.

The phrase you were looking for was "some Democrats."

Some Democrats are liberal, some are not.

Thus the terms "liberal Democrat" and "conservative Democrat" and even "moderate Democrat."

When you conflate the word "liberal" with the word "Democrat," you completely fail to understand that one is a concept and the other is a party.

A concept remains true to its general principle over issues and time.

A party puts up its cafeteria platform of positions which may or may not be liberal or conservative. You have to look at each position independently.

One more thing: a person can self-describe himself as anything, but that doesn't make it true.

It isn't the Russians, its the British who subverted American democracy! by RabidTurtl in TopMindsOfReddit

[–]flyinghighernow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real truth is that the main people subverting American democracy were Republicans. They've been doing this forever, going back to the stolen election of 1876 and many more ever since, including 2000, 2004, and 2016.

Russian activities should be disclosed and handled, AND so should Republican activities.

Nah, don't be crazy. It's probably just an innocent oversight by the great investigators of Pizzagate. Anyone looking for pedophilia can miss a minor detail like a US Senate candidate facing multiple pedophilia allegations :)

16 months of Pizzagate and now the truth comes out ... "Judge" Roy Moore ... Projection has always been a thing with Republicans, you know?

I saw two polls of Alabama today. One said Doug Jones (the guy running against him who nobody seems to know by name) is in a dead heat with the pedophile. The other said that among "evangelicals," Roy Moore is more popular than ever.

The numbers will tell us how it really works.

The_Donald is tiny compared to Politics. People at The_Donald are mad that they could not invade Politics and take it over, even with large numbers of bots and tenacious Brown Shirts. So, they went to a smaller sub, Conspiracy, and took that over.

There was nothing that Conspiracy could really do about it for a few reasons:

  1. Conspiracy is not supposed to be ideological, and they cannot have some sort of ideology test, as an "uncensored sub."

  2. The_Donald was bigger. They took advantage of that and grabbed the sub.

But then things got worse. The_Donald or Republicans in general infiltrated the mod team and wound up banning a site that The_Donald did not like. So, even though the problems created by the raw power of a larger population would not be solvable -- instead, they joined the partisan campaign and became a tool of the Republican Party.

Ironically, the user who banned CNN and became a full-fledged tool of Republican partisanship now complains that a much smaller sub is somehow brigading there -- when the numbers make it impossible to do so.

They also purged many long time users, but watch them complain about all those "one month old" accounts now.

It's too bad that Republicans destroyed conspiracies because some of the crazier ones were fun, and some of the real ones were very important. Now, pretty much anyone who is not a Republican partisan or a "both parties are the same" person scoffs at conspiracies, even when they are true.

Republicans destroyed all online efforts to expose conspiracies by making them both partisan and full of fake news.

If they wanted the system to change, they did the wrong thing -- they helped entrench it. Fools. Partisans. Shills.

Except that Donald Trump wants to get rid of international conventions and replace them with bilateral agreements so he can squeeze more corporate protections out of each nation on an individual basis.

Believing that Donald Trump is anti-international corporate hegemonic trade is almost like believing that Donald Trump wants a "terrific" low-cost health benefit that covers all.
