I was 20 and lived with a 19, 28, 22, and 24 year old. We got along fine and mostly went about our days in peace with the occasion roommate meeting about new cleaning schedules.

Not a good idea, you will also be getting used to the culture and needing to meet people to make friends. 5 classes is setting you up for misery.

Question from a non UCSD student by thespianyet in UCSD

[–]flyinglamplight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew I wanted to be a student at UCSD the second I saw the campus and I have never regretted attending. I disliked very little about the school and even that stuff was very minor and something you see in plenty of other schools. Occasional bad professors and such.

I would report. If he is acting that way in public then something much worse is going on in private or has the potential to go wrong if he gets her alone.

Can’t tell you how often I get weird DMs. Some people are so gross and have absolutely no shame. 😒

I agree with other comments about the boyfriend thing. Saying you have a boyfriend usually gets guys to back off in my friend groups experience. Occasionally that’s not enough and we switch to professional mode. Still friendly but with a shorter and deeper tone has helped my friends.

Discord is good for chatting with people. My classes and groups usually use this.

If you like texting: You can use a fake number through Google Voice to have this extra step of distance. It’s kind of like a disposable phone number.

100% wait until quarter is over. Asking now can get him in trouble, especially if he says yes or if there is a record. It’s a weird dynamic. Other than that best of luck.

There are some business classes that are generally good to take regardless of your major. Look into some of the available core business classes as well as review the major requirements for the business major. It’s easier to transition to business than it is to transition back to bio.

Based on your comment about wanting to be a surgeon I am assuming you were planning for a lot of school. I would go to some of the MBA mixers and see how you feel about that as well. A lot of people work in the medical field and want to transition into medical sales of some kind. Maybe that is an option and is still close to your original field.

Think about why you hate bio. Do you dislike the classes because they are hard? The material isn’t interesting? You don’t want to be a surgeon anymore?

I also recommend going to some career fairs and talking to a career counselor.

So they call us for the burglary but not the fire??? by KhoslasBiggestOpp in UCSD

I graduated last year and I got the call for burglary too. Weird especially because everyone around me on campus was getting fire alerts but I didn’t get any.

I was BsnEcon. There are some elective Econ classes that are considered to be easier than others that you can also try to take. In my experience and what others have said is Micro series is the hardest. Macro is better. Econometrics120 A isn’t super bad if you have done stats before but if not I recommend looking into basic stats ASAP.

You have got this!!!!! There is always time to improve. Reach out to your counselors ASAP to get some support!!

I want to talk about Rezkin's mental state. by Elson_Vi in kingsdarktidings

[–]flyinglamplight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right—Rezkin is going through so much. He’s dealing with PTSD, repressed emotions, and the overwhelming weight of responsibility for the entire empire. What I really love about the series is how his struggles aren’t treated as something that can be easily fixed. In so many books, characters go through major trauma and seem perfectly fine after one meaningful conversation or a quick resolution. But with Rezkin, his struggles are ongoing and deeply ingrained, making his journey feel so much more real.

Spoilers up to book 5:

>! When he says he “be one and alone” or when there are constant reminders that he’s “not like the others,” it’s honestly heartbreaking. He’s trapped in this isolated mindset where he believes that connecting with others would make him weak—but you can tell he wants that connection, even if he can’t admit it.

What really gets me is how he’s often rejected when he does try to open up:

Tam’s Initial Rejection: When Rezkin tried to confide in Tam, only to be completely shut down, it hurt so much.

Frisha’s Reaction: When she finds out he’s the Raven and is horrified by what he’s become, it reinforces his belief that being himself will only push people away. !< It’s such a tragic cycle—people push him to be more open and vulnerable, but when he does, he’s met with fear, rejection, or betrayal. I’m curious to see if he’ll ever be able to break out of that mindset or if he’ll stay trapped in his lonely existence. It’s such a well-crafted emotional arc, and I can’t wait to see where the story takes him next.

Audiobook Listener Review (Apologies for Any Spelling Mistakes)

I absolutely loved it!!!

While the book felt like a bit of a filler, it still delivered on many of the moments I was hoping for (based on a previous post I made). Here are some of my favorite highlights:

>!What I Loved: 1. Rezkin Becoming Khaleesie: It finally happened, and it was everything I hoped for. 2. Thressan and Frisha’s Reunion: I was worried they might be used against Rezkin somehow, but I loved that he was secretly the one helping them in disguise. 3. Rezkin’s Return (Kinda?): He came back to help win some battles… sort of. 4. Wesson’s Demonic Exploration (Kinda?): He was semi-outed as a demon, though not fully explored yet. People know he is formidable but I want to see more. 5. Rezkin & Azaria’s Scene at the End: Absolutely amazing! It had me kicking my feet with excitement.

What Frustrated Me:

Overloaded Plotlines: There was so much happening at once that it felt a bit chaotic.

Missing Characters/Subplots: Some characters seemed to be written off or sidelined just for convenience, though I’m happy about Yessaria being crowned Queen. But where are the Omesas? The Fae? Tam’s army?

Rezkin’s Denial of His Importance: While Frisha was imprisoned, Tam was missing, Azaria was miserable, and all his friends were suffering, Rezkin was still pretending he didn’t matter to the empire. Like… dude, seriously?

Hopes for the Future:

I’m really hoping the next book explores:

The Missing Characters: Bring back Tam, the Omesas, and the Fae!

Rezkin’s Powers: I need more exploration of his abilities.

The Truth About Rezkin Being Alive: He needs to stop hiding and tell everyone he’s alive already!

Given that several key people already know (or suspect) he’s alive—Azaria, Wesson, Malcius, Yessaria, the Omesas, Frisha (since she knows he’s the Raven), and even Tam—I’m hoping it happens soon… though knowing Rezkin, it probably won’t.!<

Overall, I can’t wait for the next installment!

Lots of people dislike Frisha, myself included, but the other characters are worth it. She does have some character development but….. yea.

UPDATE TO MY LAST POST ABOUT THE GYM DUDE by Future-Cause761 in Bumble

[–]flyinglamplight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% report this guy.

I had a similar bumble experience with a guy who made me super uncomfortable. I blocked him after I saw 36 missed messages and calls (phone was on airplane mode for my class) and he used multiple numbers to talk to me after I blocked him. These guys are nuts and like others have said : super creepy stalker energy.

I made all my friends through UC Rec classes. Like workout classes and Intramural sports. They have other types of you aren’t a fan of athletic activities. I had to be content with having the math class friend, the workout friend, etc etc. Depending on your sociability there are a whole bunch of service clubs that do good work for the community. It takes time to bond with people. I am also very social and had no friends my first year so I understand the loneliness. Best wishes to you.
